Phantasmagoria in two is another of his masterpiece, i even like it more than song to the siren. Most underrated artist ever is Tim

Hi there, thanks for the suggestions. I'm still new to Tim's music so I'll be sure to check them out with a glass of red wine. Keep on playing and thanks again for watching.

Thank you for this video. Previously, all I'd heard was Mortal Coil's stunning cover of this magical song. Then I caught Tim Buckley's first public performance of this song on a KZbin video clip of the Monkees TV show from the late 1960s. In my view, this is still the prettiest and best version of this song (it even includes the original "I am puzzled as the oyster" lyric, which he later changed). It's so haunting and beautiful, and in my vocal register. So I had to learn it. This isn't just a song...it is a spell.
@sophiafakevirus-ro8cc Жыл бұрын
What did he change the lyric to? I thought Liz Frazer, the This Mortal Coil (Cocteau twins) singer, sings I am puzzled like a boy child. Whatever, I know I am going to drop the oyster from my rendition because it is too incongruous.

Hi Ya Drue. Approximately eighteen months ago I decided to have a go at playing guitar again and this is where it all started - this song - on your site. I would just like to say a big thanks to you for your great lessons. I cannot believe how quickly I have moved on to intermediate. I would recommend any new starter or those who need brushing up to check out your site. Once again - BIG THANKS

Great lesson on a great song. Not sure where to ask for lesson requests. But here goes. Any chance of some Tim Hardin, either "if I was carpenter or Reason to believe". both finger style but no decent lessons out there at the moment. Keep up the good work.

Ye thats the thing about artists like tim , very very under rated an lesser known , due to their vast range of singing , lyrical and over all genre style , especially to the mainstream , i am into vast music from beatles to dylan , kinks etc to artists that are underrated and hard to find lessons of , another artist who i love ( AND RECOMEND FOR GUITAR TUTORIALS) who has a very unique guitar style is the late great richie havens as he plays his own chords in open tunings , ive been having to work at it just by ear as their are close to no lessons of alot of his songs give him a look!!, cheers for lessons mate i will sure have a look at some more of yours
@DrueJames10 жыл бұрын
Jack Hamilton Agreed. One of my subscribers turned me on to Tim's music, without their suggestion I don't think I would have listened to it. I'll have a listen to Richie Havens.
@mcgubbin10 жыл бұрын
yep im 18 from England and my family are not exactly musical so im pretty much my own taste and influence , in a way i love finding great lesser known artist such as buckley or havens etc , as i discover decades worth of old archive music i have never heard which leads me down a whole different path , truly one of the great benefits of the modern day internet

I notice in the Tim Buckley video, he has the capo on the third fret, but you put it on the second. Can you please share why you did that? Thanks!

Jerry's Guitar Bar shows a more correct intro on YT (free). You can also buy complete lesson from Jerry, with all the correct fingerpicking through the entire song, all shown in detail. Comes with lesson, play-through to Monkey's show track, TAB and music. (This recommendation is unsolicited!) As a beginner I'm finding it challenging, but confident I'll get there in the end. (No offence to Drue intended - learning the chords from him was a great start!)
@LoFiSiYT6 жыл бұрын
Great lesson! Thanks Drew! I didn't catch what the 2nd and 4th chords are called on the intro section... That's the only thing that isn't clear to me... Otherwise I hope to be able to play this song in the near(ish) future ;)
