I'm a truck driver and witnessed this chase as it passed me between Mayflower and North Little Rock. I pulled onto the shoulder as fast as I could, but since my truck is governed at 65, there was VERY little time from when I saw them till they were there, even moving my view around constantly. Turns out that I accurately judged their speeds as I'd estimated 120-130. I've watched a ton of these, but had never seen one in person. To say it was a surreal sight to witness is an understatement. I'm not surprised that Hazen was pretty instrumental in ending this since they patrol this area heavily, but am more surprised that the suspect made it more than a few miles with an ASP pursuit. I'm glad there were no apparent injuries or accidents, especially with the lighting stunt they pulled. There was an ambulance on scene when I passed Hazen about 10-15 min after this video ends, so I don't know for sure if it was just for precaution.

Makes no sense that someone can drive and fire a .22 pistol from a vehicle at random on the highway and deadly force would be used, but yet they're allowed to drive a 3200 lb 'weapon' at 130 mph, at night with no lights on, weaving thru traffic and running from the law for over 80 miles, yet no deadly force is allowed. smh
@QargZer Жыл бұрын
Because that is illegal... The firearm is an intentional attack against someone.. a vehicle might kill but it is unintentional and the courts have ruled you can't use deadly force against a fleeing suspect unless they pose an immediate threat, the courts say fleeing in a car is not an "immediate threat"
@markstone1619 Жыл бұрын
@@QargZer In the vast majority of cases it's limited mainly by dept policy, not the courts. Police dept administrators create policy with a main goal of reducing/eliminating their liabilities and since it's too complex to draw a fine line between a pursuit warranting the use of deadly force vs not attaining that threshold and that's the main reason why it's not allowed. You said "a vehicle can kill but it's not intentional". That doesn't hold true all the time. Sometimes it's very intentional. Plus, in cases where the driver's recklessness & negligence is so extreme to cause any reasonable person to believe serious bodily harm or death is extremely likely to occur from it, then it meets the exact same deadly force legal threshold as someone firing a gun down the street. You also can't 'know' if that shooter is actually 'intending' to hit anyone, or just scare them, as for getting 'legally technical' about it.
@QargZer Жыл бұрын
@@markstone1619 Obviously you never read Tennessee vs Garner... I'll give you a hint.. every policy in the USA about a fleeing suspect and lethal force is based on that ruling... Of course there are others that might also apply.. but they are based on that You can't "legally technical" out of a paper bag... You don't have a damn clue what you're talking about.
@markstone1619 Жыл бұрын
@@QargZer I'm well aware of TN vs Garner ruling (often jokingly known as the 'shoot em in the back' fleeing felon ruling) and it's laughable that you're trying to apply that to the type of pursuit scenarios that I'm talking about. The Garner case dealt with an unarmed suspect fleeing on foot, which is night & day different than anything to do with a fleeing subject causing imminent & continuous deadly actions with his vehicle. You obviously can't 'legally cite' your way out of a paper bag, as it's truly you that has no idea what you're talking about. Go back to YT law school and start over. lol

Arkansas cops are notorious for pulling over anyone with a rental car and/or out of states plates. They’ll follow you until you veer over 2 inches to the right & then pull you over, bring a dog, waste my your & give you a ticket since they didn’t find drugs.
