To get it out quicker use a coditioner directly on the pomade rub it in wait a few minutes and it comes out in 1 wash. There are emulsifiers in conditioner. emulsifiers are the chemicals that make water and oil mix. So with enough conditioner you are literally making murrays mix with water and wash out. Please like this comment im not trying to win a popularity contest but it's a shame that this simple thing gives people still so much trouble with oil based pomades!

Thank you for your reaction hope it works for everyone. I have not tested every conditioner of course but it works for me. It's not a price thing either the stuff that works for me is pretty cheap but i think it's just a testing for yourself thing. One thing though youre still going to need shampoo for the wash. Hope it helps!

Trust me, Jay The Cyborg, the formula for that product has been the same. I bought three cans of this stuff for about two dollars each at Walmart, and I used it and it looked good. Nah, time to edit this comment: this product is terrible, because I rip out my hair by accident while applying it.

Just use Head and Shoulders, It gets rid of a solid 95% of Murray's
@allenryan75157 жыл бұрын
I CAN GET IT OFF IN ONE WASH: 1. Shower with water as hot as is comfortable and thoroughly rinse hair. 2. Condition first with higher quality conditioner. Use enough so that it completely loosens the feeling of the pomade. Leave in hair for at least 3 mins. While you continue your normal shower routine. 3. Rinse thoroughly and wash hair with shampoo. Wash well by massaging and scratching scalp. A hotter shampoo such as "head and shoulders" will produce best results. 4. Condition once more for a minimum of 3 mins. Rinse hair and you're pomade free hair will feel great again!!! I use a lot of Murray's and this always gets it off.

I agree i use this method as well I recently started growing my hair out and I just slick it back I like the control that this product offers I try to incorporate baby oil after I shower to help keep my hair manageable for me it’s really thick and I need to loosen it up baby oil helps with that

Better washout method: Aussie three minute miracle moist conditioner (it has to be the moist). Put a liberal amount into your dry hair with the pomade in it, brush it through, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then wash your hair.

Omg I know this is an old video. But this saved my life. I shaved my head and it's just. Just long enough to style. I figured it was cheap and I could at the very least sorta spike the top. Took it home and thought... Huh I bet I could slick it back tho. . And proceeded to put so. SO. much on. It's late, it didn't really work, cause my hair is still not quite long enough to lay flat. whatever. I'll just hop in the shower and rinse it out.... And rinse, and rinse and maybe my room mates shampoo? And maybe my dove soap???? What the holy hell did I do??? So yes. Thanks for bringing sunshine.

It happens! Don’t do anything crazy best thing I’ve learned since this video, is just don’t panic and if you wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner for the next week, it will be back to normal. Atleast You won’t have to product on for the next several days. It’s normal. Next time you literally just need a dime size and should be more than enough
@theodorejohnkaczynski94426 жыл бұрын
Head and Shoulders or Vo5 gets it out. Hit it with a blow dryer in the tin to reduce how stiff it is makes getting it on super easy. I've got some long dago hair and I run it every time i hop out of the shower so it sits in my hair for roughly 1-2 days and by that time i've probably sweated most of it out. He's not wrong about staining though, i wear a carhartt cap to work every day and i'm sure theres no less than a half can of pomade on the inside of it

Just came across your channel randomly man I dig your style. Not sure if it a part of the pomade groups on Facebook for not but that's a great way to learn about the current home brewed market. I've been reviewing on my channel for almost two years now. I've actually never thought of using baby oil I use Aussie 3 minute miracle most of the time. Recently the owner of Captain Blys barber supply sent me their line to review and one of the products is a Brilliantine that is marketed as a degreaser. Lemme tell you that this stuff is now hands down the absolute easiest way to degrease. It take about 10 minutes. Check it out.
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
+The Western Gent oh wow thank you , no i am not part of any groups, im sure thats helpful. and wow you def have some time doing this!, well i used baby oil,or coconut oil even tho it doesnt work as well as some of the harder products or methods, i just used it in the past as a way to take some pomade off, and treat my hair at the same time, just some of those degreasers, dry out your hair and mess with it, specially i you do it on a weekly/biweekly basis, but i will def have to check those 2 prods out! thx so much for watching, and btw i just binged on your vids haha great stuff man!

Ive use murray's pomade twice a week every week since 2010. before that it was gel. i am sold on it. however it does wreck my pillows. but i noticed in the last month that the greys in my hair (which is salt and pepper) actually turning orange... to the point where its unacceptably noticeable. any suggestions here? i dont know of any other pomade that works for me..royal crown is great but has 0 hold ...
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
+William Maguire woah I never heard that happening , but murrays is considered a heavy hold product , and I think you might want to stick with that type to get similar performance. Some of my reviews are on heavies, for ex just a few heavy holds are: reuzel pink is an amazing product except I'm not too fond of the scent , captain blys heavy works really good in heat and holds well, lots of natural ingredients which is what your hair might need, and take break from some chemicals, but it's only 2 oz for about $15 . So it's def going to see an impact in your wallet compared to murrays , I'm yet to do a review on goon grease , but I hear people rave about its hold and performance, I will review it soon. Hope these ideas help
@Mazdak18 жыл бұрын
thanks, i may buy that. some folks have been telling me to use suavecito or wax based... Thank you for the advice though .. i love the stuff and dont want to part with it unfortunately.
@Mazdak18 жыл бұрын
i didnt try to wash it out when i used it- i'd wash my hair with shampoos and such every third day and just rinse the other nights so i'd not have to worry about styling those other two days.... im figuring it was a buildup from that . from what i understand, back in the old days this was more common, as people wore hats so there wasnt much reason for that sort of heavy washing (and removing product every day ) .
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
yeah def let me know what ends up happening, i seriously feel like something with more natural ingredients might help

Did you actually use it all aside from the washing out of this product. I got it today, tried it out, put the same amount you put because I actually saw your video before buying it. But the wash out was terrible. I might go ask for a refund.
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
+Derek Escobar yeah the washing out is really bad, at least if you applied very light amount it should be washing off most of it off pretty quickly maybe in several days all the build up should be about gone, a lot of us couldn't get it out after a couple weeks , this is def an advanced product, quick question was this your first pomade ? Or your fist oil based pomade ?
@derekescobar26918 жыл бұрын
+Jaybott The Cyborg Yea this was my first oil based pomade I've ever used. I was hooked on Johnny B Gel for quite a while.
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
+Derek Escobar ah ok , I thought so.. See oil based pomades will leave a little residue compared to water based gels, so even when you considered them "washed out " you'll still feel you hair kinda oily . With some lighter oil based your hair feels soft and smooth , but with others like murrays it feels a little greasy . It's normal tho it will fully feel normal soon don't freak out. I made a video about first pomades to try out and I'm going to make a more pomade for "intermediate " users or an intro to oil based, like I said there's other products that give you really nice benefits , and don't feel greasy like this, that's why my recommendation is as an emergency product , because your hair will look good for the price, BUT dealing with washing it out isn't always the best, specially if your not used to oil based/petroleum based products, have you used any other water based pomades other than jonny b?
@derekescobar26918 жыл бұрын
+Jaybott The Cyborg No I haven't used any water-based pomades just Johnny B.

Ha ha this is too amusing. I'm actually a big Neo-Rockabilly kat but I am not even half as crazy as most of my sub culture are about pomades. Honestly I'm an Eco Styling Gel kat; I use the pink one that is super cheap for a big salon quality tub. Only the price of a movie and it lasts most of the year :-) Plus it never gets too scrunchy, never flakes up until I shower the next morning right before hand and has a great shine. Honestly I tried some pomades over two years ago (both oil-based and the water soluble ones) and to each their own but yeah, the cons of ruining clothing, comforters that I had to replace as well as washing it off was ultimately _FAR_ too many cons for me. As well as Hair Gel holding my traditionally fine hair in place more without "flopping". Alas to each their own though as we all have differing hair types! :D
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching and commenting ! I agree , it's a legit pomade, and there's so many new pomades that are actually trying to meet the pros you mentioned with the pros of pomade, I did a review on crystal lake by shear revival, and that one is so easy to wash off and at the same time, doesn't dry your hair like a gel does, and in actually trying out a pomade called bonafide which also might give you the qualities you look for, Imma post it this week. But thx again for adding to the conversation!
@JayTheCyborg8 жыл бұрын
Oh sorry for a second I thought you were talking about the "pink" pomade by reuzel . U mean the pink gel tub?
@postpunklover67118 жыл бұрын
Hah a oddly enough I am watching the next suggested video, the heavy hold Dutch-made "Reuzel Pink" one. But yeah I was talking about the Murray's Superior that I tried to years ago and with how since my hair is traditionally very fine with natural oils that a nice tub of hair gel, such as from Amazon the Eco Styling Gel (Pink colored, yes) of over 80 ounces (5lbs!) goes thankfully a _VERY_ long way through out most of the year since I like I have shine with no extra grease to worry about to ruin my Rockabilly/modern day greaser clothing or the novelty Marilyn Monroe neo burlesque pin up sheets & comforter set I got over two years ago now too
