When my Nan died, I fell into a deep depression, She left me a lot of money, And I wasted every penny of it on drugs and alcohol, I spent 26k in 3 months on Cocaine, Extacy, speed, LSD, Shrooms, 2CB and Alcohol, And when I ran out of money I couldn't afford the good stuff, So I just became an alcoholic for 4 years, But now I'm clean from all drugs But I will occasionally have a drink at Christmas or on my birthday.

When you said Fentanyl made you get clean (not exact words) i truly felt that. I am 55. I was addicted to heroin for 20 years. When Fentanyl came into the picture i finally was able to get clean and stay clean. 8½ years clean now. I saw more people die in 6 months time then i had seen die in the 20 years of my heroin addiction. I wanted nothing to do with that death wish shit.

It’s been about 10ish years I’ve been sober . It’s really nice talking to other people who have gone through absolute hell and now are surviving one day at a time. I won’t take up too much more of your time but I’ll end it saying I know 100% without a doubt this awful disease would’ve killed me if I kept doing what I was doing. Thank you so I’ll much to everybody who talks about their sobriety, the struggles & utter heartache they went through. Everyone’s strength gives me strength & you should be proud not drinking or using even if it’s just for today. Love Aussie Pete 💜

Thanks for speaking up on what b.s. "methadone maintenance" is. I'm in the states and was fed the methadone b.s. to quit heroin...then I ended up addicted to methadone and the withdrawal from that is SO much worse than just heroin. Only time I ever had seizures was when I was trying to get off methadone. Go cold turkey, don't mess with that junk.

She was asked to use the harshest way possible, it helped. But when he died in the 4 wheeler accident, that was his true wake up call. I have loved Ozzy since I was able to stand up & while holding the coffee table I would “dance”! He was my 1st concert @ 12yrs old. God, I remember Methadone withdrawal. I should have quit the fetty and just dealt with the withdrawal from that, but nope! I had a plan! Go into the methadone program in Cleveland and lower the dose over time! Guess what I DIDN'T do? Lower the dose! Every bloody time I'd go in there, they'd ask if "the dose was alright?" No, it isn't, PLEASE raise it! I remember there were still some "good people" selling actual dope. It would last you most of the day. You could shoot a gram and not have to shoot again until the next morning. Fetty was every hour, if that. Methadone was the last old school thing around. I can still remember moving 30 minutes away from the dosing center and having to call the taxi service for government insurance. Waiting two hours for them to arrive, taking my dose, and waiting another two hours to get back home. Standing in the winter wind shaking and shivering - so weak from not eating. Cold sweats, barely able to walk, and the constant feeling of a gag coming on. I smelled like absolute shit because I couldn't bring myself to shower. Man...thank god for Suboxone.

Thank god I never got hooked on that shit. Youngstown County Jail did let me take my suboxone though, so that was nice. Of course, they cut it off when they caught me trying to smuggle it back into the pod for some money.

@@Ondeaddawgsss Oh, I know. I've been on subs three or four times in my life. The withdrawal wasn't as bad as methadone, in my opinion. This is the longest I've been "sober" in the 30 years I've been alive, though. Two years on subs now. I don't consider it sober, per se, but some people do. As long as I'm taking medication like suboxone, I don't consider myself the sober everyone brags about; however, I haven't touched any REAL dope or methadone in the 24+ months I've been on it. So I consider that a win (not that I'd get high even if I WANTED to).

Great interview. They are telling my and countless others. Got 9 years now. There's such wisdom and honesty here. At least from my own experiences in order for me to even listen to someone about staying sober I needed someone who had been there and was completely honest. Didn't hide the horrible situations they were in. If a person is handing you a sheet of paper to read for me I would roll my eyes and throw it out. I never went to AAor anything. I know it works for alot of people, but for me their life still revolves around drugs and alcohol. If your going to a eating a day, two a day I just feel like it's still controlling you.i was just ready though. Maybe that's the difference. It wasn't working court thing or intervention, I had just had enough. Walked 8 miles to an emergency room and said you gotta help me. Anyone out there struggling don't beat yourself up. Everyone messes up. One day of sobriety is a monumental task when your in the thick of it. Your trying. You will get there. Eve tally the guilt and embarrassment of your addict life will go away. You got this

Do you use any substances at all? Caffeine? Nicotine? Alcohol? Pharmaceuticals? I know of very few people who have truly been sober most of or their entire lives and most ex "hardcore addicts" always have some sort of crutch. Whether it be caffeine, pills, extreme sports or sex. Very few people are completely sober in this day. Even Mormons that won't even use caffeine. Drink Ephedra tea flat out. Ephedra tea is far more stimulating and euphoric than pseudoephedrine.

i would be the only one in the comments who has lived like ozzy but its great to know ozzy just smokes a bit of pot here and there now. thats all ive done since quiting hard drugs and booze 3 years ago, the only thing i do is tiny, macro miniscule amounts of pot. and that helps in every way... couldnt be sober for more then a few days without pot. so to get to 3 years at this point, its clear pot helps in every way, i suggest to anyone who wants to live sober, just quit everything and only smoke tiny bits of pot, youll be fine in a few years, figure your life out and choose who you want to become. god bless all.

I was using needles for seven years, I had to go to prison in order to get off of it. It’s very difficult, no matter the circumstances, but it’s possible there isn’t any excuse.

Ozzy is asleep but woke af. His grandkids are gonna grow up hearing some wild stories. From him, Sharon, Kelly, Jack, and Sid (the fire starter)from Slipknot. What a legendary family. Glad they're doing podcasts and debriefing their lives. So cool

I don't think Ozzy understands what microdosing is, its a term reserved specifically for psychedelics where they're consumed below the threshold of feeling the effects. It's about rewiring the brain, not getting high. I don't do it but I've understood the concept of it for quite a few years.

I've known people even family members that are no longer here cause of their addiction too heroin, speed even crystal meth, it just consumed them but my self was a heavy drinker I drank til i puked and that was most of the time the last straw I drank so much Jack Daniels one night that it put my in hospital with the nurse telling me had I drank anymore it would've killed me so i praise these blokes and any other rockstar that quit the bs and got clean.

I remember Ozzy smoked that Bong backstage in a video lol. A moment non related of when he did that prayer backstage has allways stuck with me! 💯 man is a real one. If taking a few hits of MJ feels good for him I hope that's all fam does with his sobriety streak from everything else that didn't go well with him.

I’ve been listening to “ Demon Alcohol “ . I’ve been sober since 2012 . But I can relate to that song. I remember when that lp came out in 1988. We wore it out. We were popping homemade Luddes . Valium based. About 10 Valiums in one Lemon 714. Wake up the next day. Calling each other. “ wtf did we do last night?” I don’t remember anything. “

They most certainly also prescribe Methadone as a chronic pain medication & its actually amazing for pain but ,as he said,it's way more addictive, way harder / longer to get off of, & some of the most serious, dangerous, miserable, longest lasting withdrawal symptoms ever !!! I know because I'm a slave to the medication myself from pain management.

Funny you guys mention methadone for pain, I am in methadone purely for pain management - crazy right? Particularly because I have never been what the status quo would class as a “junkie” nor have I ever used heroin intravenously or for recreational purposes (my poison has always been hallucinogens). I was put on methadone because, as Billy noted, it has a long half life (stays active in your system). To add insult to injury, had Australia made medical cannabis more easily available & affordable, I doubt I ever would have needed to go down the opioid path As a fellow musician, I absolutely love the madhouse chronicles! I look forward to each episode & as soon as I see there’s a new one up, I drop everything and watch the boys “talk shop”, to turn a phrase. What did Bon say?? Oh yeah, it really is a long way to the top

Alcohol and propanol methamphetamine to keep the party going. After 11 years sober, it’s the splitting headache hangovers I don’t miss. Puking off a building while working, 3 day benders, no thanks

The mushrooms are the one thing that I think you can healthfully microdose. It has a natural limiter where if you use too much your body will become used to it and stop being as affective. But the best part, the tolerance dissappears in a week or so after heeeaaavy use 😎

Ozzy was right bill! Methadone is used very commonly used for pain treatment in America, and also for addiction issues but it is BRUTAL WITHDRAWAL. Heroin withdrawal is like having a cold or the sniffles in comparison

Great podcast lads ❤ What if we didn't treat addiction as a disgusting thing, what if we treated junkies like living breathing humans! Tier by tier to intergrate them back into society. Relapse means back to the first tier! Progres means a better life❤

Methodone most certainly has been used for pain cause I was on it for a few years til it started messing with my heart rhythm. And of all the 20+ years I've been on pain meds...methodone is the absolute worst withdrawals I've had from anything else combined! And folks PLEASE know that it takes a stronger person to ask for help than not!
