The drumming on the Harvey/Ellis songs-especially on the albums ‘Dry’ and ‘Rid Of Me’-is so brilliant and does not get talked about or appreciated enough, because Harvey’s career as a singer-songwriter (and more so as a singer), as well as her image and how she’s changed it over the years, completely casts a shadow over the musicianship. It’s really a shame. Ellis is godlike as a drummer. Harvey’s guitar playing and time signatures are equally mesmerizing. Oh well.
