Back in the nineties I became obsessed with P.J. Harvey. Musically, there is no one quite like her. "Down By The Water" has a creepy, unsettling, almost sinister vibe to it, but is also beautiful, mysterious, and hypnotic. It takes a special talent to get all that into one song. This is what real art looks like.

Why does she act so seductive in this video, is she the big fish hunting the man who she views as the little fish or is the little fish her daughter? @@judyjohnson630 Actually absolutely not, it's a BS explanation. Harvey herself refuted that ridiculous hypothesis of interpretation. And she didnt have any unilateral interpretation to offer either. She said that even to her the lyrics dont have a precise meaning, and it's up to any listener to hear in it what he wants. Thus it's stupid to claim it would BE about this or that. Some say it's about the loss of virginity, some say it's about a mother killing her daughter for discovering she was not a virgin anymore, and so on. @@derpsquad6401 I knew her in 1995 reading a review of To Bring You My Love in a magazines that was specialized of alternative music. Well that magazines became my favourite for years...until it closed cause the owner failed due to poor sales, in 2013. But in the 90's there were several magazines at least in my country who talked about indie music, nowadays there's the web, but i missed those days.

Saw her in concert along with Veruca Salt and Live back in 1995 at Great Woods in MA. Needless to say, it was quite a memorable event!

Reading 'Into the water' by Paula Hawkins right now, and the lyrics in the book sounded familiar. Had to look it up and sure, I know the song, but my god it fits the book so well..

When I was young I loved this song, I would sing it all the time. I remember the first time I heard it on the radio I told my mom I needed the song and we went to I think media play to get it
