Hi adam, have the same drum filter for a customer! Ran like a dream for 4 yrs, doing my fortnight checks noticed the display unit was off, found the little fuse on the back of the panel, changed fuse, unit came on reset error code and pressed clean. immediately the fuse blow! I have noticed the drum can be stiff from time to time. Im thinking it could be the motor but not 100%. Bloody fish who'd have em!😅

Sounds like a good filter to avoid! Thanks for the tip.
@AdamJulyan Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say avoid it as drums in this price range all have very expensive parts when not covered by warranty but It does seam as though the motor can be a little problematic so could it be worth spending more money and getting a more professional oriented drum probably.

Very interesting! Always good to see the troubles that could be encountered. Thanks!

I enjoy these fault finding/fixing videos Adam. I've got a similar Oase drum filter (the one with the hel-x media) for my set-up too. I like it for the ease of use as mine is almost maintenance free but, like you said, if anything goes awry out of warranty it's eye-wateringly expensive to fix. I had to replace that big, heavy, metal cylinder in the bottom (aka the HP water pump) literally 2 months after the warranty expired on mine - Oase wanted £700+ for a new one!! I managed to get an ex display spare for £400 but it left a big dent in my pond budget that year. Touch wood, it's been ok ever since though. Good advice about greasing up the rubber seals and looking forward to your next episode. Cheers, 🙂

ohh that's though £700 good job on finding an ex display one. I seem to be going through a period where everything is breaking so hopefully that doesn't.

That’s probably just a common stepper motor. Find the specs on the plate of the motor for voltage etc and swap it into the case the other is in. Guarantee you can find the exact same one on eBay or Ali

Great video I have a similar oase drum so very interesting for me as you never know when something like this may come in handy 👍 And a tip for you as well the sensor box on the lid just unscrew it and sit it in place on the drum then it will work with the lid on or off 👍
@AdamJulyan Жыл бұрын
Yeah they really do need greasing probably yearly. That's a good idea Ill do that it's nice it doesn't wet you through randomly but its a pain when you want to see it working.

@AdamJulyan absolutely mate it was a pond builder friend of mine that told me to do it so I could see it working and yeh ill have to check mine later this year when it warms up 👍

I took my magnet off the lid reversed it and cabletied it to the drum, thus enableling to watch everything without the lid on👍

Please, can you do a video on how to clean Oase proficlear premium filter. I took of the screen to clean it but couldn’t put it back. Any advice? Many thanks.

Hello Dear, I also have got the same filter. And I don't know how to use the control panel for the drum to clean automatically what are the best settings for it and how to turn it in action with open lid... Because in this video you didn't explain that. Thanks

lol @ "bloody fish". Glad you posted it Adam, really useful. Just out of interest, how much is a pump? Have a great weekend, kind regards.

Glad you enjoyed it 😊. The drum motor is about £400 but i didn't buy a new one you'll have to find out in next weeks video what i did to repair the motor 😂.

I’ve had mine about 6 years and the pump packed up last November. I saw how expensive the pump was and thought there must be a normal electric motor in the housing. Unfortunately I can’t do it myself yet because I was waiting for a new knee. Which I’m recovering from now. So I’ve left it till I’m fit to do it. Hopefully you’ll tell me how in the next video.😊

If I'd paid that much for a filter I'd expect the motor to work for at least 5 years.
@Maatson_3 ай бұрын
Motor will burn out if it has to work to hard . The issue was the rubber causing the drum to stay stuck that will force the motor to work harder heat up and dye out .

Hi Adam I think I’m quite close to you and wondering if you know anyone who rents temporary vats as need to do some maintenance in summer? Cheers
@aidandalton7404 Жыл бұрын
I used an inflatable swimming pool as a holding pond when I was repairing my pond. Only €20 in symths toys. Just in case you're stuck. Remember to cover it to prevent fish jumping. 👍
@AdamJulyan Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think you're best bet is a swimming pool, pond vats are too expensive.

Shocking, Oase equipment is so unreliable and doesn’t last long at all in my experience.
