Thank you so much. I have a Native American hand drum that has gone flat. Thanks to this my husband and I can see a way to return it to a good sound. I watched others which were not much help at all. This is just great.

GREAT INSTRUCTIONS! Thank you. My drum is nice and taut, and already has a voice even though we just wrapped it. I am excited about hearing it's sound after it dries!

Thank you. I wonder what kind of wood you are using. I have a 200 year old silver maple on my ground. She has been a big part of my and my granddaughters lives. She lost a huge hollow branch this winter. If I can smooth a slice of it inside and out, do you think it would be strong enough? Give us good sound? Is there a traditional wood that is used?
@thewanderingbull9843 Жыл бұрын
The round hand drums are typically made with maple frames. Using the branch would be a fun project and I can't see why it wouldn't sound good. Thanks for watching!

Very helpful video. I have a 24” double sided drum whose frame was made using 16 mitered segments of rounded softwood. I relocated from the Midwest to Arizona and gave it no thought. One night I heard a sound like a rifle shot as one of the laces gave way. Within a month enough laces broke to break out two mitered segments! I would like to reuse the heads to make a pair of smaller hand drums. My question is whether or not these heads will, after soaking, react in the same way an un-stretched hide would? Any experience reusing a previously stretched hide you could share? Thanks for the video.

Thanks for watching! There is a good chance they will work on a smaller drum, but may not if it is the same size.

Some of my drums have a vibration that sound like something vibrating on the dashboard of my truck. What's up with that?
@thewanderingbull98433 жыл бұрын
Hello Phil, Could be a few things, crack in the frame, tension on hide it too loose. Is the frame deep could be that or maybe the kind of hide that was used. Thanks for watching our video's!
@philhewett16013 жыл бұрын
@@thewanderingbull9843 Thanx so much for thew quick reply. The frame is brand new...20 segments glued (over glued with lots of squeeze out) and sanded to circle. This frame is 2 and a half inches deep and others just 2 inches deep. Buffalo hide drum head. So it goes, in the fullness of time all things are revealed, again, thank you for your input, it's much appreciated.

Chris, great video. You mention the kit, but your site only has a 9" drum kit. Are you planning a 13" kit? If not, how many feet of Rawhide lacing for a 13" drum?
@thewanderingbull98437 жыл бұрын
Hello, We are not planning a 13" kit sorry. You would need 16 feet of lace to make a 13" drum.
