Can you do a lesson on improving the single paradiddle? Cheers
@julesdrumsofficial4 күн бұрын
I would love to. What is it in particular that you find most challenging about the paradiddle? Are you looking for more speed, or some variations and orchestartion ideas?

Is the idea that eventually you return to starting the roll with RR and the smooth unaccented roll that your approach has fostered will continue, and not just revert to an accent on the 1?

@julesdrumsofficial I have but I was a bit confused by the inclusion of singles in some of the patterns. I need to re-visit the video, perhaps I wasn't paying enough attention and you mentioned it somewhere? Can I also ask, if you start on a single R, will that involve 3 R's at the end of the bar to get back to straight doubles, can't think that's right, I'm probably just over-complicating it, wouldn't be the first time, sorry! Appreciate your help, and your video of course!

@@sufc43 No problem at all, thanks for checking. So, the sticking doesn't go back to RR LL as that would lead us to put the accent back on the first note again, which we want to avoid in this instance. Once you get comfy with the phrase (it's definitely a bit odd at first) then you won't notice it. You'll see from the PDF that the exercises contain bars of singles and doubles to practice, as this is designed to help you get in and out of the roll more comfortably. It's well worth playing through those nice and slowly, until you can just transition without thinking about it. I hope that helps, but just let me know if you need any more help at all. Enjoy!
