You and Ave Mcree are my new go-to's. Both of you have kept it real when so many other trusted voices on YT have betrayed the community by shilling for Unison. The price is outrageous and the target market for all of their shit is new producers who don't have the knowledge to understand how mediocre their products are, how misleading their marketing is and what other options are out there that cost less and are much better. People like TAETRO should be ashamed of themselves for helping Unison scam unsuspecting people who trusted them.

There are some really good vsts u can get for 300, but they use friggen good sampled instruments, etc. For some of the stuff they are generating im Drum Monkey, I feel like I shouldn't be saying, "but Splash Pro, etc. Free generators can do the same thing..."

It doesn't even have an algorithm that generates the tracks it merely picks a random midi sequence from a set DB that is the same as the midi sequences they already sell as packs on their site. So they are basically making ppl that previously bought their midi packs buy them over again.

Splash Pro is gone. Man, that was fun. I still like the Monkey but I understand it cost alot. I use Perc X when I want to update samples from kits, to reset the Monkey samples.

the problem with the drill generator is its combined it with grime. grime drum patterns are typically trapish (especially hihats) with a slight different kick pattern (in some cases). uk drill drum patterns typically the snare is always in the same place with the 2nd snare coming in late which gives it its stereotypical uk swing and the hi hats are basically countersnares with the same pattern in every beat. for some reason the generator rarely applies these parameters. would have been better if they separated the drill and grime genre options. this would be hella confusing as a new producer who didnt know the differences between some of the genres they offer pattern generations for. ive tried it too and its flawed for these reasons. it can be a way to kickstart your inspiration but youll still need to change up the sounds and in some cases even fix the pattern. therefore 300 is a crazyyyy price imo great review btw. agree with everything you said

I can honestly say that I never thought about the use of the word drum "monkey" as a derogatory term in the context of this application. However, I am glad you brought it out as when you talk about the target audience for this product, some of them could feel offended. Also, the name is just in poor taste overall and who knows maybe one of the developers is getting a good chuckle out of it. Companies should have a little bit of awareness around topics such as this.

Those of us who are a bit older than many here will remember during their childhood seeing a 'drum monkey' toy. It was battery powered and featured a monkey hitting a drum. Simple childish amusement, but that's what it was. Incidentally, I wouldn't pay five dollars for that garbage plugin.
