I agree w/ everything you said here. I tested the plug-in myself and I'll say.. 1. price is astronomically high. 2. This should have been marketed as a utility, NOT a way to produce music. The best use I can see for it (as a DJ and Producer) is an easy way to make quick re-drums and intro/outro edits of songs for DJ sets. Grab a kick, snare, hat from the original song - use those as the sounds and then let this thing create a quick drum loop in the genre you want. 3. WAYYYY too many oversights.. the whole monkey theme... c'mon bro - how? why? The reason most of the patterns (I wont say beats) don't translate is because they failed (from what I can see) to put a x2 /2 feature. If your DAW is globally at 121bpm, and you try to generate a lo-fi pattern.. that would really need to play at half time.. With more thought and feedback from real producers this *could have been a decent tool, but unfortunately it translates as a quick cash grab when you just look at it from the surface.

@@TouchToneDSG I will use this comment as a starting point. Essentially, I need help from you and people on this channel in order to find a proper tool. First of all, thanks for the honesty. It is also very funny in some moments :) and you are definitelly hitting a right spot here. I am not a professional (yet) and I am definitelly not making my living of music at the moment. From what I've seen, most of people commenting here, including you, have some kind of niche music and you developed ear for that specific niche. My case is different because I am planning to earn my bucks in games and film music. If it was up to me, I would never do anything like trap, house, etc. and I would stick to the music similar to what Vangelis and Moricone did. But in the music for games and films you don't get to choose much these days, it really depends on the content of game/film. That practically means that I eventually should be able to compose/produce everything starting from orchestral music all the way to house, industrial, metal etc. Everybody is saying that this plugin sucks and I get that :) To some people it sucks because it doesn't have quality samples under the hood. I mean, for Lofi even I could hear that it sucks entirelly :)and I don't know what Lofi is. For some it is simply not worth of the price tag. Anyway, what I noticed and what I find to be very useful is that with this plugin you actually get a some base for variety of genres with included things such as humanization, variable velocity, syncopation. In case of e.g. drum'n'bass it takes care of the famouse "shuffle". And I don't need to go and read a history of how shuffle is initially created on Wikipedia and/or watch KZbin videos. And, of course, once when I have generated MIDI I can rearrange it as I like and replace samples with other samples. My question would be - what other plugin is capable of this? I read about Playbeat, Captain Beat, XO by XLN and couple of more tools but I wasn't able to find in their promo videos how it is done. Any suggestions are welcome.

@@TouchToneDSG Thanks! It's the approach I have. I also don't understand why anyone would need to produce fast drums in 30 different genres. Doesn't someone realistically only produce in a few different genres? And shouldn't you not stretch yourself too thin by trying to produce in a lot different genres? I say, stick to your strengths, and work within your means, and you'll produce something more meaningful in the end. I am one that just need to make a couple of loop patterns... some of us love and respect what you guys do but have a terrible ear for either patterns or music theory and not by saying I am lazy but am too old and don't have time to learn that but are like many others that watch these videos out here and said "oh I can do that" buy the product and realize that you are not that good... I watched a guy for months with maschine mk3 brought it and was terrible at making a simple drum pattern ...BTW the guy promoting it was a music producer.... it sat for months b4 i picked it up and started playing it.. I can make a few patterns now just enough to mix into my DJ set as loops going from one song to another ...... So stuff like this helps and cuts down the time.

Preach preacher. But I'ma keep a buck witya as I've stood on that milkcrate years ago--when Reason was 1st was introduced. A fellow Elda Head and respected producer who started on the EPS16+ put me up on game and was like "hell to the naw". I had to re-think my producer's grind/workflow and hesitantly with 101% of that "gotta keep in real or in ain't Hip-Hop" mindset I reluctantly yielded to change from having damn there every E-MU rackmount sound module MIDI'ed up to a MIDI patchbay to all be sequenced via an Akai ASQ-10 using my 1992 purchased Ensoniq ASR-10 as my controller/sampler. I say all that to let you know I was there before most producers where born. So I became what I coined, a "hybrid-producer", where I still sequenced out the box but used VSTi's via several DAWs like Cubase, Nuendo and some stand-alone Steinberg VSTi software I can't recall the name of to serve as my new sound modules and would either dump beats to CD recorder, DAT, ADAT or re-routed inside the box via channel busses to bounce it down to stems or stereo mix. Needless to say them good ole' labor intense, knowledge of a signal path days are long gone!!! I'm onboard with your argument but where we differ is agreeing with stating "we" let them--the software companies and developers--with no idea of how we really get down in the lab banging out drums for 2-3 days before we even start loop searching and/or laying down melodies steer the market to where Drum Monkey could actually come to market? Real heads I know tried to pushback and take the new breed of producers under our wings and let them know, that mouse beat ain't producing per se. But when you had a proliferation of pricey DAWs, VST's, etc. hitting damn there every cracksite coupled with the hardware price drops and the processor war between Intel and AMD, which lead to affordable and usable PC's/laptops for pro audio/production usage, the game changed overnight. Which created the opportunity for the development of more "Insta-Beat" wares to flood the new "pro-sumer" production and emerging home recording market. Then when Fruity Loops was introduced, the game was a wrap for the Elda Heads that knew nothing but patchbays, outboard gear routing, etc. Some of us like me stayed the course for a while, but lost that feeling when I got lowballed on a beat sale for which the rapper claimed the producer was selling him a beat for $50 mutha phuckin' dollars!! I was "yo playa, I'm not even gonna hate on that price. But my wordclock cable cost $100 so ain't no way I'm gonna lower my prices to that level". So I became the 1st Male Ex-Producer Exotic Dancer to strip while making a beat onstage!!--nah I'm phucking witya I wasn't the 1st!! LOL!!! All bullshittin' aside, I eventually checked out the "production game" as I had a full-time gig that paid my bills and producing was for the love and passion, and once the market was flooded with "Insta-Beat" successful producers I was Gucci on producing. Same shit went down in the DJ game too, yet their real skillsets still overshadowing their point and click offspring who know not what a crate is. Now to my point if I lost anyone. Fast forward today, I'm a lil wiser and have taken what I've been learning from day trading, "follow the market and don't be that special one to go against it" and applied it to my so-called post-midlife producer's comeback. I set back and had an epiphany to put that mindset to today's so-called production standards. The "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" mantra is befitting what all Elda Heads should be doing and less milkcarton sermons as these youngins would do better if the only knew!!! "We" Elda Heads gotta swallow our pride and navigate this low level shit and put our Kayne/Q-Tip egos aside and realize DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Eric Sermon, DJ Battlecat, etc. ain't walking through them doors to save the Elda Heads and bring back that feeling from the Golden Era when production was the shit. The torch has been "snatched" not passed on and we gotta do us with the knowledge we have and do the damn thang and not get caught up on being the lonewolf and start collabin' with these youngins!! Not saying you per se don't. Collectively, Elda Heads tend to be lonewolf minded as that what gave us that grit and unique shit to differ us from our contemporaries. In closing, my suggestion to you is take your arguments, gripes, etc. to said companies that we all know don't have no melanin--or no "real heads" albeit all dope cats aren't all melanin blessed--up in them dev meetings. Weigh in with your knowledge, wit and banter and keep it a buck wit 'em and they should either welcome you or ignore you. Shitting on you would be a bad look, so I wouldn't foresee that happening with all this cancelling shit going viral. Once your sub number hit 6 digits, they'll be receptive if not dick riding trying to get you to promote their wares. Also there is some relevant, dope ass cats on KZbin who share your sentiment. You would be wise to align with them like minded cats and "rage against the machine" that has dumbed this shit down several mouse clicks!! I'ma new sub and will be fuckin' witya and wish nothing but success as your channel grows playa...oNe Love. And I'ma drop a jewel on you and everyone else: "Wackness is a necessary plaque. Embrace a wackass producer, rapper, etc. Cuz without them the "real shit" that you rep or claim to rep would be the status quo..." -BG67

Way to go in TT, you really addressed the underlying cynical approach behind plugs like these, and if people really want to be actual producers, or are just playing at being producers...good stuff! #Subscribed

that was entertaining and informative. One thing that I would point out (and do not treat it as a personal attack) is when you change the genre you should also adjust BPM. Just saying :D

@@TouchToneDSG Like honestly I've been getting recently absolutely fed up of modern music.. the industry is getting saturated and it all sounds the same to make it worse because all it takes is a minor key, an arpeggio and some hat rolls The only reason this plugin was even possible to make is because of how predictable and repetitive music is nowadays.. Creativity isn't supposed to be this predictable; that it could all be boiled down to a simple algorithm.. Bring back the 2010sss lol sorry for the long response though. but thanks for reading!
@TouchToneDSG3 жыл бұрын
@@Levi-fx1ot It’s all good man I definitely understand where you’re coming from that’s why I say people maybe need to push their creativity and quit trying to sound like the next person and maybe just maybe companies like this wouldn’t thrive and we can create more music that pushes the boundaries and feelings

I'm trying it out and personally do like. If not only for seeing the breakdown of genres I'm not familiar with. And maybe trying general ideas against a melody to see if that direction is even worth going in. I like that you can substitute your own drums. Worth $300 - I don't know. I'm just getting into it so that remains to be seen. I think it has potential if they keep working on it. Especially for the melody talented but drum deficient. 😂
