The Stilo Stig Cool! I would recommend to use bigger bearings then I did to make it a bit more sturdy. I would love to see some fotos when it’s finished.

What are the ID and OD of those ball bearings?
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76766 жыл бұрын
The bearing has the short mark 623 - ZZ. It is the short mark of the german company INA FAG which is international so you should be able to find them. The important dimensions are 10mm on the outside, 3mm on the inside and its 4mm thick. But to be honest i would chose bigger bearings. these hold up but are a bit wobbly and the max of 3 mm for the axle makes the axle a critical point. Hope this is helpful

As a machinist, I am equally bothered and impressed by your end result, all together it seems to do its job
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76764 жыл бұрын
jeremiah davis yeah there are some things that bother me as well. Most of the things that bother me are due to decision based on the material I got at my local hardware store and my making skills and experience at that time. I am working on a plan for a new one. Out of curiosity what bothered you. I’d like to know maybe there are some points I didn’t think of just yet.
@jeremiahdavis79044 жыл бұрын
I was mostly bothered by the lack of inherent precision, mostly due to it being done by hand, and the material of choice seemed like it would be prone to pretty immediate wear even if it had been an excessively perfect fit to start. If I were to do it myself, I would use a slightly less hard steel than the drive shaft itsself and use a multi- fastener or hinged locking clamp sort of attachment for the shaft/beater attachment and a steel drive bar with brass bushings/bearings
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76764 жыл бұрын
jeremiah davis honestly I am pretty surprised with how well it holds up. I too expected it to wear out way faster but it’s still okayish. The hinged locking clamp seems to be interesting. I was hesitant to use steel because it weighs more than Aluminium and if I don’t find a stainless steel I would have to use some sort of varnish to protect it from corrosion I guess also I was kind of fixated on using Aluminium because most commercially available pedals use Aluminium. But as I said I am planning on redoing it and i am glad for everyone who has cool ideas that i can implement in the new build. To the lack of precision I think you can be pretty precise with hand tools (e.g. clickspring). Not saying that I am but since I don’t have the money (yet) to buy more expensive tools I kind of training my filing skills. But still my drills are pretty far from precise.

would you sell the project or make it available?
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76765 жыл бұрын
David ddrums hey man i don’t sell the project itself because it’s handmade and the price I had to take would be to much. The plans are very adapted to my original pedal so they wouldn’t be to useful for your pedal. If you really want to build one yourself my advise would be to make cardboard prototypes to get the right measurements and use bigger bearings than I did for this one.

Hello, I think it's excellent, can you pass me the plans? I want to make a pair for my iron cobra, pleaseeee :c
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76765 жыл бұрын
hey man i have a hard time giving away my plans because i really don't know to whom i'm giving the plans to. I am just a maker with a very small account and the chance that someone takes them publish them wildly without giving me credit and thereby screwing me over is not worth it. Besides these plans are designed to work with my footpedal which is not an iron cobra so you'd have to redesign it anyway. This video is more of an inspiration. So just try and make your own and feel free to ask if you have any specific questions.

+Hewitt Brothers Manufacture Can not you pass me the measurements of the pieces? the long
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76766 жыл бұрын
okay the lenght of the link is 95 mm between the centers of the holes where the bearings are in. the bearings have a diameter of 10mm. so with a bit of material on the side of the bearing the total length is 107 mm which is good for my pedal.
@hewittbrothersmanufacture76766 жыл бұрын
the rest of the parts are very adapted to my pedal which is very customized. Before i made the parts out of aluminium i made a couple of models out of cardboard to figure out some of the measurements. The part above the link is about 70 mm long and the part that is screwed to the pedalboard is about 50 mm long

hey man thanks for the kind words and your interest in these. The problem is that i don't really do production work as of yet. Meaning these are prototypes. Allthough they would kind of work with iron cobras depending on your beater attachement. Nonetheless ACD unlimited offeres various uprades to various pedals (www.acd-unlimited.at/english/onlineshop/upgrades/) And also provides you with installation videos (just search for ACD unlimited). You can also contact him directly.

hey man since i don`t speak spanish I am just going to assume that my translator is translating correct. First of all thanks man. Second of all this direkt drive is very customized for my pedal. But i started with templates out of cardboard and took measurements and sizes of it to have orientation. However i would do things differently now that i have used it for a while. For one I would use bigger bearings and also i would do the mount on the axis differently. Hope I could help you out a bit.
