I love Kevin doing the Celtic bit! That was my favorite b/c it was such a surprise. And it's so much in terms of change of rhythm and their parts, all those transitions ... They do this live seamlessly, of course.

There was a fun tik tok of Scott with his headphones on, kicking back in his office while rehearsing his part for this; I think it was in preparation of their Xmas tour. It just goes to show how it sounds when their parts are isolated lol. People have said when they performed it live on the tour, and it was just wild.

PTX uses unison quite often, then break into their wall of sound. They use dynamics better than most.

PTX showed a clip of rehearsal for this piece and they described it as “chaotic.” That seems about right…

Has anyone figured out the other secret? They were also doing a retrospective of their own music. The beginning with the lights for example harks back to "love again" and Kevin solo to "amazing grace", all the way to thr end where they did the bum bum bum harks to "dance of the sugar plum fairy" and I think "carol of the bells"(?). Theres many other examples like mitch foray into edm is it called? Where he's done before snd to the boxes in editing clear back to "daft punk" and a number of earlier songs. They do the homage to their earlier work very subtle so not everyone catches it. I didn't either till a reactor pointed it out.

Yes - more so than any other genre - they take tired dare I say boring and overdone Christmas 'classics' and reinvigorate them. They absolutely make these songs cool and interesting. Wish I could have made it to their Evergreen concerts, but maybe next time!

I share your opinion on this song...it's not my favorite...but they made it mine!!! I have binge watched every PTX reaction video I can find on KZbin. I am obsessed with them!! And Matt! I've already shared why many times so i"ll leave it at that!!! Excellent review. I think he does play some drums, but Matt is the major drum player, as his biography shows. Thanks again!!
