Always good reactions. Just a note on Senri's count. If you look closely when she holds up her stick she's showing us it broke. Didn't drop it. She handled that cool as a cucumber and literally didn't miss a beat.

The stick that went flying over the front of the kit was broke? She held up a stick after that? Either way she killed it but I think the first stick did fly out of her hand toward the front of the kit. Which is good means she has the loose grip going on which is important.

one of my favorite young drummers. I love that she's not just copying Rush's Tom Sawyer but creating her own thing. Nothing wrong with copying your favorite drummers but eventually you need to start doing your own thing and creating your own stuff. That's where the rubber meets the road. Same with Anika Nilles, another fine young drummer doing her own thing

I saw someone else mentioned Kanade Sato. She is another one to check out. Still hoping you will take a look at Simon Philips playing with Hiromi Uehara as the Trio Project. Yes! I stumbled upon a video of her at 7 or 8, playing the drum part of the psycho-fast bgm soundtrack to a japanese side scrolling video game that had obviously been composed and played on a sythesizer - it wasn't overly complex, but the tempo(?) was sooo fast! The idea that anyone would even attempt to play along with it seemed completely ridiculous, but there she was, this cute little girl still in gradeschool, not just playing along with it, but nailing it note for note without ever missing a beat! Amazing!!! I can't find the video anymore and assume it was deleted at some point, but I've been a huge fan ever since, and it has been a pleasure to follow along as she has grown into an adult and as a musician to become one of the best drummers of all time. Have a great day. Peace!

There is another Japanese drummer you might want to take a look at who has a connection to Senri. Bear in mind that this is not mentioned to take anything away from Senri. She is undoubtedly the the most skilled female drummer in the world. She can lay down complex grooves which many men cannot do. Very powerful drummer. She went through the metal phase with her drumming about six years ago, then migrated to fusion and jazz. This is a good drum solo here, but there is another one, which I cannot find right now, otherwise I would post it of her doing a drum solo over thirty minutes long. But I would like you to have a look at this other Japanese drummer who has taken the drumming and music world by storm. Another incredible musician, but this one is a little more unique in the sense that she never had a drum lesson until about six months ago or so. She has been playing as a professional for about four years. She already has three albums under her belt and is currently working on her fourth. She also writes music for commercials and theme songs. Here name is Yoyoka Soma. This is a video which was posted on the internet a little over two years ago and it went viral. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2LTq2R7bdV0hbs This next video put her on the map. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmnMioGQmrKAkJI This is what most people know her for flawless covers. She has played in a band and basically toured Japan for the last four years. She is also a studio and session musician. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4qonGOrg8qIjNE When she was eight she first appeared on the Ellen show. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5i6Z3-mf82bbJI then again kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXy0pnpmpr2cpLM That is what the public is paying attention to. Her professional professional work get maybe only a tenth of the views of her covers, but have been watched by millions of people with her performing on live TV. Here she is on stage doing a solo performance then goes into playing a swing song, Swing, Swing, Swing on the back of her performance. She is eight years old. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHanmp2cibmHhtE This is her playing at a rock concert with some of the top rock musicians in Japan. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHXZkmSHjJiJeaM On stage with Cyndi Lauper go to 2:00 kzbin.info/www/bejne/imbLgZ54a6lgp7c Then again at TGC 2019 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6KZqZKFf7Z3rs0 If you watch her drum lesson 29, you will see what kind of drummer she is. The video is in Japanese, with English subs. Firefox does not pick up the subs. Again, this in not to take anything from Senri as she is a very talented drummer. Just didn't know how to send you an email. Yoyoka has covered several of Senri's songs. Senri has paved the way regarding where Yoyoka is going. Just wanted to get your take on Yoyoka. There is so much more to this little girl. She just stole the 2020 NAMM show. But with all the commercials and performances she is doing, this last video will let you know that she is still a little girl. It also shows that there is going to be a conflict with her drumming in the future due to her ability to sing. She may end up being a Don Henley or a Dave Ghrol. Circling back to the connection between the two of them, it would not surprise me to see them, together at come point in the future with Senri and Yoyoka teaming up with Senri playing drums, Yoyoka singing, Juna Serita playing bass and so on. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJDMfqWmj5iJsMk

@MorbidManMusic Formal Beach Wear. No, she is not the best drummer. She is a professional musician. This is the point, she has been performing and playing as a professional musician and entertainer for five years. The best drummer in the female world would probably have to go to Senri Kawaguchi. This is all about being the best that you can be, and Yoyoka is showing the world that she is doing just that. But Yoyoka is not just about drumming, this was the point of my post. You cannot look at her as a little girl who just sits in a room and plays covers. Just do an internet search on her name and you will see that her name is popping up everywhere, all over the world. She just stole the NAMM show in Anaheim. Ultimately, I do not see her being a drummer. Especially since she has so many talents. Very few drummers make fortune and fame sitting on a drum throne. Just like with Senri, Yoyoka is now playing drums on the world stage. If you go to any of her social media sites, you will see that see is now associating with some of the biggest names in the music and entertainment industry. Forget her youtube channel, she is not posting what she does as a professional on youtube. Her upcoming appearances, tours, who she is playing with, where she has performed is all lised on other sites, some of them are in Japanese. This is where you will find the real Yoyoka, kaneai.jimdofree.com Again, she is a professional musician, who happens to be a ten year old girl.

@@frankiek2269 Just so you know, there is another Japanese drummer on the horizon named Junna. She is kind of like a younger version of Senri when she was into metal or she kind of makes you think like she is a female version of Scott Travis, but with Yoyoka's moves on the drum throne thrown in. Probably the best drummer of modern times, according to Jeff Procaro is, or was Frank Gordon, but he flipped outcand went insane.

Senri blows those other girls away. But I love Junna’s energy, Yoyoka’s joy, Kanade’s in Senri’s footsteps, and there are others. Murata Tamu is a grown up Yoyoka. They are all impressive. But Senri could copy them all, and none of them can do Senri. Maybe close, maybe soon, but not the effortlessness

If you wish to see the Mozart of drummers, check out Yoyoka Soma. She is a 10-year-old drummer. She plays in a professional rock band with her parents, who are also musicians. She started drumming at the age of two, joined her parent's band at the age of five, has played in rock concerts with Fall Out Boy and Cyndi Lauper, been praised by the likes of Dave Grohl, Jimmy Page and Gene Simmons, appeared twice on the Ellen de Generis show - amongst other things. Other than her otherworldly talent and groove, she is just a joy to watch, because music and drumming is the love of her life. Wondered if you would react to her rendition of the Jeff Porcaro shuffle in Toto's Rosanna - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIGQpYeCotp-pZI Afterwards, check out some of her other videos: 1) her playing live at her seventh birthday - kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5zLeJqnjd6qi5o 2) channeling Gene Krupa at a 14,000 seat arena corporate gig - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHanmp2cibmHhtE (she was 8 years old at the time) 3) playing with some of Japan's top rockers at an outdoor rock festival (also when she was 8) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHXZkmSHjJiJeaM And lastly, here she is chilling at home - kzbin.info/www/bejne/goKqm4WNrMagd6M

agreed! those kids put in the hours. it's not always the parents forcing practice. many of these kids have such a joy and drive to do what they love that they will practice far more than the average kid. that's why they develop so quickly. of course, there is something to be said for having a natural ability but that plus the drive is what makes child prodigies.

Anyway, check out this little 1 minute demonstration of Senri’s kick-ass-ness: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4uwlYp7hpp8fZo&lc=z23msxeaopehjlty404t1aokgmlqkuwaymwepsobcrvlrk0h00410&feature=em-comments Senri has been one of the top drummers in the world since about the age of 12. She’s 22 now, I believe. All the top players want time with her and has recorded with many of the greats. She has a number of excellent jazz fusion albums and is always in 3 or 4 groups at a time. She even plays great hard rock jazz fusion as well as straight on jazz. I consider Senri and Simon two of the best drummers in the world, as is Band-Maid the best Hard Rock band in the world, Hiromi the best original hard hitting jazz fusion pianist (especially love when she's playing with Simon P) and Yuja Wang the best classical pianist. Amazingly, all women!

Drumset Artistry. Loved your reaction. You know what you’re talking about. Would like to see what you think of Kanade Sato. She’s 12 in this video m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqaaYaN9dsyKbK8. 16-18 now. Not sure exactly how old she is now. But she has played with Senri m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqTJZHediJh_e6M before. I think Senri is 3 or4 years older than Kanade. They are both simply amazing. Edit: spelling

Protoge? Yes, back in the day Kozo Suganuma was her teacher. That was years ago. Catch up with her actual playing with groups live. She is muy sympatico. With less talented groups, she quickly assumes a leader role. In other words, she drives the band. In her 20's.

Yoyoka has potential indeed and as another poster stated, her time will come. But please, you can't ever compare Senri to Yoyoka. Senri is of another completely different league of her own - in spades!. It's common logic, Senri has so many more years experience and finesse. When you can play jazz fusion, which is 1000x more difficult than rock drumming for example which Senri does so damn well, then you know you've accomplished something special.

All these people talking YT drummers need to get their head out of the clouds as an oft overlooked female drummer is Santana touring drummer and serial Lenny Kravitz drummer Cindy Blackman. She is seriously talented and has the discography to prove it. A lot of the time it is less about how the person plays for many of these these thirsty voters as many don’t know a floor tom from a tom tom or a crash from a splash.
