Is he really hitting a rim shot on all of those? Doesn't seem like it to me... just driving through the head nicely. Or is his technique just good that I'm missing it :)

They’re all rim shots on the back beats (2&4). Rim shots don’t have to necessarily be played loud. They cut and make a consistent sound.
