just received mine today and there is a huge problem in the beater design. They didn't design the angle right and/or the device itself is so tall, it prevents the full throw of the beater. You have to stop soo short of vertical! You'll actually be training with bad technique. I'm going to attempt to bend it further to fix the problem. 🤞🤞

I got mine today too, I was thinking of bending the beater back some, but then I realized I could adjust the notch that the spring hooks to, and move the entire beater itself further back, so you're getting the full throw of the beater. (granted the footboard will be slightly higher up but I doubt that'll be too noticeable)

Even with the DW I can't get get a full stroke from the pedal. It's limited. It does not create a realistic feel for effective practice.

Right. It's great in concept, poorly executed in design. It should be plug in and play. Or put on and play. That's what I expected. Unfortunately, I ended up making this video to show its flaws.

@@TheRealHowardYates I used an iron cobra 200, and I was able to turn the pedal back far enough to get a realistic range of motion. It's a great idea but it would be better if you could adjust the angle of the metal, so it could just plug into any pedal, then adjust the angle of the pad to ensure it always lines up square with the beater, no matter the pedal

@@Nigel-nv3lr You shouldn't have to do that. That is a problem. I wanted to use this at a gig for warming up but if I have to make adjustments to the pedal so it works with the kick pad, I don't have time, nor would I want to readjust the settings to get it back to playing position. It should be simple as they present it. Switch beaters. Hook it up. Play. Nope.

Thanks for the review! I bought mine in September (during a sale, so it wasn't full price) and I think they made a few changes since the initial release. However, I didn't save my box, so I can't say for certain how the packaging may have changed. Now, they are definitely directing customers to a set-up video (they sent a link in an email after I placed my order). I agree that the QuietKick doesn't work well with all pedals. I tried it first with a Sonor pedal & the beater hit at an angle on the bottom edge of the pad. It's felt OK, but the fact that it wasn't hitting square in the middle of the pad bugged me. It works best with my DW3000 pedal. One of my biggest complaints is with the spurs, which mainly seem to be there to support the pad (which otherwise sits a half-inch off the floor). Ideally, the spurs would be angled so they point to the front, to better prevent the pad from sliding forward. There is definitely room for improvement if they decide to revise the design. They should start by testing the design with several different types of pedal, to be sure that it works with a majority of them.

You're welcome and thanks for watching! You're absolutely correct. It's not designed with every pedal in mind. Nor is the one from Gibraltar. DW's overall fit good on both kick pads I have but other pedals require more maintenance, such as adding paper or little cardboard pieces to change the angle or get a secure bite on the plate. I think Drumeo has a potentially awesome product, but out of the gate, it's not working well for me. I'll try to find the link you mentioned about making adjustments. I spent a lot of time on it before making my review. Hopefully they have something for me that will work. I still haven't received notice about the second beater to purchase, either. Thanks so much for watching this review and communicating with me about your experience with the Quirt Kick. Howard.

Kind of wish I saw this before I ordered mine. I was planning on using an old Pearl Double Pedal I had lying around. It's a cheaper model that came with the first used kit I bought. It has no pedal height or beater angle adjustment. This made it virtually unusable. Technically it worked but the the throw was so short, and the pedal was so high, it wasn't worth using it. Next I tried "The Dualist" pedal. That worked OK for single pedal mode, but not so great for double mode. I thought I might use it for that to try and learn how to use that weird pedal, but since the bounce is not realistic you can't really work on the timing IMHO with the quiet kick. Granted, that's an odd ball pedal. Lastly I put on a DW 5000 single like you used. This was the only pedal I tried that works decent. Honestly I don't care if the beater hits flat. I have mine extended out more than you and it's hitting right on the edge where the bend is. Maybe not ideal but for the short time I used it so far, that doesn't bother me. But I know it shouldn't be like that. I think the basic, simple, idea here is great. But it falls short. If instead of bending at an angle they made it go straight up at a 90 with some side reinforcement, it would be better. And the spikes I can see could be an issue the way they are mounted... An adjustable hinged piece on the end with both foam/rubber for hard surfaces and the carpet spikes would be much better. Or just give it an adjustable lip to mount the pedal. I think less concentration on making it compact and more on a better more universal design. I'm a little disappointed and at the price when you see what you are really getting, not great. Just a matter of time before Amazon has Chinese knock offs somehow skirting any patents that may be in place. These must cost less than $10 to manufacture.

Just set mine up on a DW9000 double pedal (Arguably one of the more popular pedal models right?) and it installed pretty well, but the beater is just too long, even all way into the pedal. I have to scoot the practice pad as far as I can out of the mount while still being able to clamp down on it and the beater still just barely hits the bottom of the practice pad. I'm also having the same issue as the commenter with the angle, I also don't have the full throw of the beater. I'm sure I can mess with it and ultimately get it to work, but I was really wow'd by the convenience and quick install factor of this product. Meh. A little disappointed.

It's potentially a great product but seems like it was either rushed in production or not much thought was given regarding different plate/clamp positions. There's too much work involved for something that gives the impression of just hook up and play. Hope you find that it works out for you. Maybe some improvements will be made over time. I haven't bothered with it much since I launched this video and I won't purchase another one.

It doesn't give full range of motion. It feels very limited.

I used my Roland KD-7 reverse beater which has a better angle and always worked great with my DW 5000 pedals

Let me give you all the honest review you need without some cringe content creator making a silly long video instead of answering the simple question. Is it worth it. Short answer No Long answer: it is the best thing for a quiet bass drum on the market. I'll explain. Ths reason no because at the end of the day, you are stomping into the ground so you will make noise regardless. So playing foot techniques, playing with a double pedal and playing those fast songs means that you wasted your money. if you think this is the solution to your problem. So I'll let you decide if that's appropriate for you. For me. I had to cut cardboard out to help level the pedal with the kick pad. I also have a towel wrapped around the pad to make it as quiet as I can. And my family are OK with this and my neighbours are OK with this. And I can play the songs and practise the things I want all ok now. So it's not a waste of money for me. What I think gives this product the edge is that its so much more portable than carrying around any other kick pad.
