Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are my favorite bands. Bonham and Paice are two of the greatest drummers of all time. It's not easy to play like them ... but Yoyoka does it perfectly!

Ian Paice was/is an absolute master. He deserves, along with the rest of Deep Purple, a lot more recognition than they have gotten over the years. Yoyoka here is spectacular and extremely accurate on the fills and everything. Another drummer that plays with a lot of fills and changes like this is Akane Hirose from Band-Maid. Well worth a listen, never boring.

For me, Ian Paice is as close that heavy rock got to producing a Buddy Rich. Of course, it comes to no surprise that Akane Hirose is a huge fan of Ian Paice. Although not overtly a clone. She plays with the same spirit and invention that Ian Paice has always played. As a matter of fact, I think that she surpasses Ian. She looks like she has more fun and and happier than Ian. Probably because the ladies in Band Maid actually like each other.

The fills are on the original track. The song is insane for drums. I'm not a drummer but I am amazed that Ian Paice could do this song after playing 4 or 5 songs (they'd be like 10-20 minutes each with Deep Purple sometimes) and then carry on playing for another hour afterward. Night after night for the entire tour. I do know, even as a non-drummer, that Ian Paice has an INCREDIBLE one handed drum roll you should check out. It's probably a 1 minute long youtube video so no need to react to it but it's impressive nonetheless.

If you watch Paicey's reaction to this song, you really get the sense that he knows it's one of the most demanding in the catalog. At one point (just before the "intro" of the reprise chorus) he says "here's the part that I always get wrong." (and of course, Yoyoka nails it)

Yeah, she's old enough now that she can do songs like this where the right tone from the drum can only be achieved by hitting it hard enough. Watch the tip of the stick. It's moving through every bit of three feet of arc, accelerating. What is yet to come as she gets older? She's reached "beast" level at 11 years of age.

@jNBKozmosLLC as Ian Paice said in his commentary she's playing from the original master recording. As time went by after playing it many times he added little bits and made it more complex. Shes just playing from the original master so says the master himself. 😏😉😁😂 it was remasterd in 2002 it has the extra little bits I listened to both versions. I like it better with the extras hope yoyoka trys it some day.

Andrew, been a DP fan since I discovered them in 1973. I was 13 years old. Yeah....Yoyoka is pretty damn spot on. There is a YT video of Ian Paice reacting to this same video. Check it out if you haven't already. I accidently ran across Yoyoka a couple of years ago. She's an amazing little lightening ball that simply PLOWS the drums with the power of a grown man. I can't help but smile when I watch her play. I think she's great and hopefully will find a really nice place in music. She's deserving of it.

I watched Ian Paice react to this video ..He says it's perfect to the original and was mightily impressed. He was 20 something when he built this drum track and couldn't imagine playing drums this young let alone this energy level ..which took him years to reach .👍🏻☮❤

She did( burn) before the who's (in tune ) shes got another deep purple cover since that its( speed king) its a little faster pace lol. If you would like something a little different maybe try (virtual insanity ) its a little jazzy if you want something a little funky( up town funk )or anderson paak( put me thru.) enjoyed the show tremendously thanks andrew 😜👍👍👍👍👍🤘🧦 her sox are magical.

For anyone who doesn't know this - Ian Paice drummed on an album Paul McCartney did approx 20 years ago - an album of covers of 1950s songs that McCartney particularly likes - I think that shows the esteem in which Ian Paice is held - I suspect this young lady has a very bright future - if McCartney gets to 85 or so (and I hope he gets to that age and beyond) and is thinking of cutting another album, Yoyoka Soma should be on his dialing list !

Actually, you are wrong with respect to when she was endorsed by Pearl. You must have gotten that information off of Paice's reaction video. I do not know where he got that information, but he is incorrect. She was endorsed by Pearl when she was eight. She is the youngest drummer ever to have been endorsed by Pearl. Here is the video of her at the Pearl factory selecting drums for her signature set.
