People can argue all day long about whether or not he's the best drummer out there, that is all opinion. One thing that is an absolute fact is that he is the most innovative drummer in the business today. There's just nobody else out there using this many interesting combinations of techniques. I'm sure someone is going to disagree with me, but they're wrong. 🤣🤣

Drummers watching this guy is equivalent to guitarists watching Stevie Ray Vaughn or Eddie Van Halen. It simultaneously makes you want to go rock out right this second, and put down the instrument forever. It's like watching a metal drummer version of Buddy Rich.

he has a video about how that pedal works, and there's a triple hammer version as well....but, its not just the mechanics of using a 'heel stomp' to switch from single to double - which apparently takes some effort to trigger... but when the heel lever is actuated, the hammer strikes the drum...so you have to time the switch with a beat of the kick drum, too.

I’ve watched this guy play this song at least 25 times and it still irritates me. I’m not a drummer but I can tell how amazing this guy is. What irritates me is that I know exactly when he drops the extra stick in his right hand but try as I might I can’t SEE him drop it.

To me El Estapario is to drummers what like Jaco Pastorius or Les Claypool is for bassist or Jimi Hendrix or Andrés Segovia for guitar player. He stands among the greatest drummer currently alive.

Jorge is *SO* good tho! What he does here is tricksy for sure, but so musical. I'm not a drummer, but had an instance where I was in a friend's car when this Weeknd track started playing (it's not something I'd choose to listen to myself), & I just involuntarily started laughing, as it is weakAF without Jorge's drumming. LOL You can't go wrong with checking out any / all of Drumeo's "hears for the first time" series.
