I believe Kanade was 17 when this was recorded. You may want to check out the video where she plays with Senri, when she was nine and Senri was fifteen.

Yes, Kanade Sato was mainly a jazz fusion drummer for most of her career. Her first band was Ear Candy Jazz Factory which she joined when she was 15 or so and she joined Muses a bit later, but she also played on some of the solo albums of metal/rock guitarist Rie a.k.a. Suzaku (Senri Kawaguchi played on one as well) and has joined progressive pop/rock band Koiai less than a year ago. I think she can play almost everything you can throw at her (just like Senri), which I have noticed with other good jazz drummers as well.

Well, fusion drumming is the top of the percussion pile. So, if you can play that, you can play anything.

"Ritmo" means "rhythm". The song is a festival of rhythm. There's a good reason Kanade wears a tiara. : )

Check out Weckl’s work with the Chick Corea Electrik Band. Inside out is a great album.

Thought it was a Dave Weckl reaction and a bit disappointed, but this young lady is impressive indeed. But you should react to some Dave Weckl with Chick Corea's Electric Band videos. He's one of my top 5 GOAT drummers,, and he does remind me a bit of Bruford's style, another in my Top 5.
