So, to give some context for the boss fight this piece plays for: in the story, you're not so much fighting Apep so much as trying to cure it of a poisonous... "substance" known as Forbidden Knowledge, which is slowly rotting Apep from the inside out. The catch is that Apep doesn't WANT to be cured, at least not by the only person actually capable of doing the curing, due to a combination of pride and the sickness itself amplifying Apep's hatred. But you HAVE to cure it because if Apep dies then it'll release a massive wave of elemental energy that will cause Sumeru's desert to overrun with greenery while the nearby rainforest will grow out of control. So the first phase of the fight is subduing its rotted guardian long enough to apply the cure, the act of which which takes the form of phase two in which your goal is to kill a bunch of weaker mobs to fill up a meter, which culminates into a final phase where the guardian resumes attacking, now full of life and power and not quite ready to stop its assault. And for context on why you're fighting a guardian instead of Apep, the whole fight takes place INSIDE Apep (the snake is fumkin HUGE) and the guardian is more or less a rampaging antibody.

Amazing comment. Summarized everything super well and kept it simple without leaving anything out.

The mention of "imprecise" and "weakness" is spot on! With context it gets better! I keep waiting for someone to react to "Jolts in the Forest". Like this is my favourite non-weekly-boss battle theme in the game

Jolts in the Forest is so fun

I'm impressed you got the detail at 1:30. Slight spoilers, but this is a boss battle where the boss starts off "weakened" from an illness and the goal is to help the boss slowly recover throught the phases. Which is probably why the flute sounds so much stronger in its third phase 3:00

You picked the correct version. That's from the officially released album. As the video image says the album name is "The Unfathomable Sand Dunes". It's the most recently released album and one of my favorites.

I second that, one of my favourite themes.

4:13 just to be clear, most of the instruments used in this song were Indian Instruments for eg: The flute i.e., Bansuri, Drum i.e., Tabla and Guitar-ish thing i.e., Sitar
@CatharsisYT Жыл бұрын
That's why i clarified the specific origins in text. Some drum variants share similar design but names differ depending on location, just the result of musical cross-pollination. As a percussionist i only really knew the names and rough origins of the drums, nothing about the other instruments. Except the sitar but everyone knows the sitar sound by now so i didn't bother mentioning it haha

@@CatharsisYT ah ok, also wanted to tell there the song you listened to is not full song. It’s not the official one as it only contains the theme for 2 phases, the 3rd phase is missing

@@Shibu-069 As it is shown in the live performance, middle eastern instruments such as oud (other type of guitarish) and ney (flute) and darbuka (drum) and also saz (another guitar variant from specifically turkey in mid east) are all in the concert (saz is also shown in game too in sumeru city mini stall, so you can actually go see it and compare it to sitar in the shawerma place forgot its name, which really shows the mix cuz shawerma and kebabs so middle eastern but sitar is in right there 😂, so its better you realize they literally intentionally try to mix everything)
@naoz9228 Жыл бұрын
@@Shibu-069 you know what, that mix makes sense, Aladdin originally was created by China after all just like mihoyo 😅 they always mixed india in mid east, probably has to do with the old silk road while maintaining their own idea of their self, they combined everyone else on the silk road into an arabian nights fantasy with the clearly indian things in the middle like the tiger 😂😂
@Shibu-069 Жыл бұрын
@@naoz9228 yeah ikrrr, whenever I see anything that has a middle eastern theme, it always contains Indian instruments mixed in with middle eastern instruments for some reason!

Apep also know as "the Lord of Chaos". Is an Egyptian spirit in a form of a massive Serpent. Apep ancient spirit of evil, darkness and destruction. As the arch enemy of the sun god, Ra, he is a malevolent force who can never be entirely vanquished. Every night, as the sun travels though the underworld (or across the sky), his roar will fill the air and he launches his attack. This fight is interesting because even tho the theme is Apep's the enemy isn't directly Apep herself (in Genshin its a she.)
@javahikage Жыл бұрын
Spoilers ahead: Apep's boss fight is about helping someone who doesn't want to be helped. Apep is a forgotten ruler who's grown sick, and that sickness is making it frustrated against everything around it. During the encounter you're helping Apep fight it's sickness against its will, and as the fight progresses you can hear its health state through the music: it starts weak and confused, then starts getting angry about the situation and we end rekindling the ancient beast to its former glory.
