The best thing about Kanami (Lead guitar) is that she will give you a little bit of everything in most songs. Her goal is to write a great song and not to show off and shred just for the sake of shredding. Sadly, her playing ability is sometimes underrated because of that.

As many people are saying here, I think that varying between chords and runs on solos is where it's at. Kanami is good at runs, but she knows when to throw the chords in to make a solo more intense or more melodic. Also note where she has Miku arranged on rhythm to provide chord support during the solos. That's all incredibly well thought out.

Great reaction-Thanks. It usually take reactors a few shots at understanding Band-Maid's arrangements, but you were pretty quick on it. Kanami (Lead guitar) generally composes their music in an orchestral style I guess- each instrument contributing a different element to the song. I've heard this song so many time but never noticed the single bell note. Another thing that Akane does does on the snare are double, instead of single hits. I started drumming because of Akane and I'm a better drummer now, after 3 years than I ever was at playing guitar for 40 years- It's never too late. To hear a different style of drumming try Wonderland Official Live Video- there's cross sticks and great use of symbols.

In the actual concert the previous song "Dice" has everybody on the main stage. At the end the drums alone continue on while Kanami and Misa go down the runway to the platform. Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄) Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. Just a little tip from a 68-yo Japanese fan. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

It's normal that Japanese rock makes us think of anime theme songs... Animes are Japanese, so the studios turn to Japanese groups or singers to do the openings of animes... So when we listen a Japanese rock group, we find links with what we hear in anime... Personally I have never seen an anime with an American or European rock group for their opening... Moreover Band Maid has already done several anime openings (Log Horizon, Platinum End, Yughi'O, ...)

@@daaaaaaveYes, but in the case of the majority of anime, these are original compositions specially requested from groups or singers to illustrate the atmosphere of the anime. For a group or singer, it's a big step forward to be chosen for an anime. If the anime is successful, this allows them to be widely distributed. In your example, the songs cited are not made specifically for the anime. It also happened to Band Maid in the other direction... The American Netflix series Kate uses songs from Band Maid (Blooming). Note: It is logical that a producer chooses a local group for his music, even if the theme of the work is very far from the producing country... Even Disney for Mulan used American songs while the plot is goes to china...

@Kevin60595 ай бұрын
A little late, but nice job with your reaction. You caught right away how great Akane's feet are, and how she incorporates her feet in the middle of a run, or basically just uses them like two more hands. While Jimmy Page never really called her the reincarnation of John Bonham (a maidiac legend), he did want his picture taken with her and it's easily found online. Now here's some more stuff you should know about her. Even when playing a mid-tempo song with nothing flashy, if you pay attention you'll notice that she doesn't repeat patterns very much as a general rule, and the notes she chooses to accent are not something you ever imagine as a musical choice. It's almost random, and more than one drummer has tried to cover their songs, only to wind up frustrated because they can't remember the drum part. Unpredictability is a theme with these incredible ladies, and the drum patterns are just one musical element that demonstrates that. You'll notice that the instrumental parts rarely repeat on verses, and they'll throw in a lot of structural composition elements that "throw you off" - to make it interesting musically. I'm an old trumpet player that started my career as a band director (wasn't for me, so I only did it for 4 years), and listened to a lot of hard bop. And most of my friends, and my wife, are drummers. She is sort of like Roy Haynes or Keith Moon (sometimes), as she'll play an equal role being "up front" sound wise with the others. And yes, MISA is basically a lead bassist. She almost never just keeps time with the drummer. And also yes, their music is so dense it can be disorienting at first, but their music just keeps getting better with every listen. I could go on forever, but in your future journeys, listen for her patterns, or lack thereof, on future Band-Maid reactions. (Which I hope there are many of) Cheers!
