I watched the whole set this morning they were on stage for about an hour and they were pretty good and you get to see the first Misa solo but it's recorded from well back in the crowd but they were great I wish they would come to Australia 🇦🇺 even if they only went to Sydney and Melbourne it's only a 90 minute flight to Sydney and less than that to Melbourne from Adelaide anyway. I've been listening to a lot of Rolling Quartz and really enjoying it I think they have replaced BRIDEAR as my third favourite band. The live version of BREAKOUT by DIH is great if you haven't seen that yet it's got some great guitar work. See ya.

Oh, it was amazing hearing it live for the first time. As soon as the transition from DICE to Hate started, the whole crowd was perked up a bit because this was new and I don't think anybody in the crowd knew where it was going before turning into the highlight of the night.

@@stephenchigwidden7504 Yeah i've seen several versions from the pro shot to fan cams & it was a great show. There were 6 pro cameras filming so if Hulu & B-M ever get together to release a Blu-ray/DvD then hopefully with post editing the right cameras will be on the right members during solos & stuff.🤞 I have seen "Break Out", not only is Sena an awesome vocalist but she's an amazing guitarist too. Stephen i'm shocked, I didn't think RQ would be your thing what with them being a ridiculously gorgeous female band.😏

@@GaryHolloway-810 No I can't. That's what I suspect as well. DYTM almost feels longer because that one really builds suspense, but I'm sure the timestamps will say otherwise. I would love to find out what the feature treatment would be for a lot of their other songs as well. I don't know how you up the ante on Shambles or I'll but I'd love to find out. 😁

This the arrangement they used throughout this leg of the US tour. It was the only song I let myself record when I saw them in Minneapolis a couple days after this performance. Yes, this has great sound and it is completely live with no post processing; captured from a stream. You should look up the lyrics Saiki wrote for this song (usually Miku writes lyrics). They are pretty passionate and brutal. The song following this is *"Freedom"* and it is a band (and fan) favorite for concerts. It's not as flamboyant as some of their other songs but it's great in a live setting. They opened with an instrumental *"from now on."* Fun fact, they played the Lollapalooza Aftershows less than twelve hours before this, and they played a full set ... into the wee hours of the morning!

Saiki's lyrics sound to me more direct and passionate, even those songs co-written by two of them in the past are less motivational or insightful compared to Miku's lyrics but emotional. Very refreshing and the band needs it.

The director was probably unfamiliar with the band and had no idea who was going to be the focus of the songs when. Frustrating to be sure, but understandable to a point. I'd love if the band got the raw footage and could properly edit for an official live version of this.

As to other tracks from Lollapalooza, Endless Story is fantastic but it's a bit more laid back. You really can't go wrong with anything from that set list. And of course, there are other female-fronted Kawaii-metal groups like Ladybaby and Ironbunny, to name the two best-known after Babymetal. You asked where to go from here? Based on your observations so far, I think you’d appreciate hearing samples from the several eras for comparison. You’ve got the bookends: “Thrill,” and a 2023 Lollapalooza “Hate?” Band Maid is hard rock fusion and they musically shapeshift better than most. First stop, “the non-fiction days” From 2016, their modern rock/2000’s sound Second course: 2017 Studio Coast performance of “Moratorium.” Signature heavy metal wrapped around a pop center. I promise you will want to steal riffs from this song. Main Course? Big. Loud. Complex. Powerful. 2023 Official live video of “Puzzle.” Dessert: “About Us,” going back to 2021 for a song specifically written as a love letter from the Maids to their fans during the pandemic lockdowns. Band Maid is a musical jewel 💎 with many facets. Keep exploring!

Ha ha! Your list is about to get crazier. This will take two comments, since it's too long for one. Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are high quality and are representative of the band's style. If you put the question out there, you are likely to get suggestions mainly for Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you. My personal favorites include Asterism, Bridear, Doll$Boxx, existTtrace, Hagane, Hanabie, Mary’s Blood, Sokoninaru and Tricot. Ok, the list: Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They have a strong Deep Purple vibe, and in my view they belong in any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXvCZnqsaNt5oLM Shonen Knife (1981 The world’s first bubblegum punk band. They have done several world tours, and opened for Nirvana, who were big fans. They also perform as a Ramones tribute band called Osaka Ramones): kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWqvhp-Pr7ScjdU Destrose (2005; This band was never stable, but has become almost mythic in metal history, because so many great bands spun out of Destrose, including Lovebites--you will recognize the drummer and bassist.) Here are two clips-a lot of them get taken down so please let me know if either of these is dead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKHcq4miha92aMk kzbin.info/www/bejne/m16meWB8gbhloa8 (This cuts off just after Narumi’s guitar solo-but they didn’t cut that, and it’s gorgeous.) Aldious (2008 Glamorous and kick-ass rockers-one of the first generation all-girl metal bands, along with Destrose) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZfOe4dmp9eUY5o Asterism (2013 Not all female, but will melt your face off- the guitarist Haruka Noma is off the charts talented and just turned 20) kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5fbfpxmd91nrpI Babymetal (2010 The flagship “Kawaii metal” band and the most well-known Japanese metal act outside of Japan. Combining “Kawaii” (cute) Japanese pop tropes over thunderous heavy metal backing) kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyWf4CQdrp-fdk Band-Maid (2013 OK, there are 160+ great songs by them. Easily the best known band on this list other than Babymetal, they are more hard rock and prog than metal. Just did a 14 city US tour in 2022 that sold out 48 hours after being listed, and are doing a 2023 global10th anniversary tour) Here is a live clip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHnTpningqaWesk Bridear (2011 Heavy, technical-and their tiny bassist also growls): kzbin.info/www/bejne/goKsdaSrmaySerM Cyntia (2011 Second wave, hard, heavy, but with prog and symphonic touches) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJ_LgJWeas6Sabc D-Drive (2009 Instrumental progressive metal and fusion; Mixed gender.
