The melancholy,, the yearning for sweeter times, regretting the burned bridges - as a certified senior, this song hits harder every year. Appropriate that it was the last song on the last real PF studio album - looking back at the end of the road. Bittersweet.

Saw this tour in 1994 at the Pontiac Silverdome (Michigan). Floyd played Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety, and David Gilmour announced that it was the first time they played the entire album since they did it back in 1975... in Detroit. Talk about cold chills! Fantastic concert.

Me and my now late hubby went to Division Bell tour in San Antonio. Floyd knows how to put on the best show ever. There was such a diversion of people of all ages there. Of course, the whole stadium was smoky. We were on the floor. Probably one of the best concerts I’ve been to in my whole life.. I would say next to the Beatles Pink Floyd is my favorite. But I lived seven decades, so I have lots of good music to love. I’m sure I don’t have anything to say that hasn’t been said already . Thank you for this despite feeling rather sad missing the old man😢

"More mature" sound and "world-weary" as a band who had seen it all (the DB album, for me, is the pinnacle of the band's experimentation & prog sound, finding their melodic perfection on that last song of the LP). Perfect adjectives for that perfect song!

This is my all time favourite Floyd song. A close second is , On the Turning Away …..and the best version of that is from the live show 1989 (I Think) recorded somewhere in the USA. It also is breathtaking and an amazing guitar performance. Pink Floyd and Supertramp are my top 2 all time. The musicianship and song writing of both groups set them apart from almost everyone else…..Steely Dan being #3 for me. Cheers from Canada 👍🎶🎸😎🇨🇦

I listened to it about 10 days ago ( for about the ten thousand’th time) on my roof terrace in Seville, having smoked a blunt of considerable size and content, looking over to the cathedral. A special time, this song moves me as much today as on the day it was released and at the 2 Pulse shows I experienced in Earls Court, London, where the show was filmed. This is a beautiful song reflecting his age and looking at his life. Their shows were an immersive experience--this show gives one a glimmer. what does it say about the commitment that the band tours with an actual church bell? All of the touring members had been together for decades when this show was filmed. Very much a family affair as well. Guy Pratt was married to Rick Wright's daughter at one time--plus, he is going out with Gilmour on the 2024 tour for Gilmour's new solo release at age 78.

Yes, „High Hopes“ is from their 94 Album „Division Bell“ and was a new song back then. The „division bell“, the ringing of which „has begun“ (according to the lyrics and verse one and clearly audible throughout the song) is a synonym for decision making in British parliament. In the context of the song it stands for the division of friends and decisions we make in life and - ultimately - the passage of time („the water flowing the endless river forever and ever“)! This is the Floyd without Roger Waters and more influenced by Gilmour (which was also identifiable in their previous albums in songs like „on the turning away“) Another underrated song from this album in my view is „Keep Talking“.

The Division Bell was rung in the British House of Parliament when a vote was due and for members to take their seats, and yes I am not a fan of covers but nightwish do a great version of this song and you can see they love it.

The Division Bell is a fantastic album. The people who dislike this album, sometimes obnoxiously so, are the ones who claim Roger did everything and was Pink Floyd, while claiming the others were expendable and unimportant. As you can already tell, they couldn't be more wrong. TDB is probably the first time they sound like a cohesive unit since Wish You Were Here due to Roger's ego blowing up. I saw them on this tour the first night they played Dark Side in it's entirety for the first time in 19 years and it was amazing.

The controversy is that after The Final Cut, designed by Waters to be the band's final album (hence the name), Gilmour and the rest of the band wanted to do more. They went to court over the name of the band, in fact, and Gilmour and the rest won, and were allowed to make the couple more albums and tour on them. Purists will say that, sans Waters, it's not the same band... and they have a point; up until that point, Waters had been the artistic leader of the band to be sure. There are even purists who say that everything after Barret left the band, and the arrival of Gilmour aren't "real" Pink Floyd albums (meaning there are only two then). On the other hand, bands always evolve (hopefully) so whatever you believe in terms of if this is "real" Pink Floyd, every version of the band stands on it's own merits.

This is a song about their youth in Cambridge... and a lot of the references are places and sounds that they all hear. And yes... it was, "The endless river".... The viual on the cirular screen at the back showed guitars floating on a flowing river. Keep on rocking young sir.
