So this was my first listen to Alice Cooper on the channel and not on the radio or anything and WOW! Who knew they had been around so long and had such a varied output. This was too short but it was great. Hard Rock at its finest, in 1971.
Link to original content (Please support the artist! I'm just giving my opinion, go get the real deal.)
• I'm Eighteen
If you’d like to donate to the channel or just show your appreciation, all the details are below. I created this channel for my daughter, so she has videos of her father talking and doing something he enjoys(listening to music and talking about it) since I don’t have any of those of my father. :) thank you again for your generosity guys, I appreciate you all more then you will ever know.

Discovered and originally produced by….. Frank Zappa. Schools Out was a huge hit on the radio the summer I was a sophmore in high school. Never forget where I was when I first heard it. Seen Alice Cooper in concert twice. He puts on a helluva show! And he’s “one of us” if you know….

I was nine when I turned eighteen. The first three albums are masterful. "Be My Lover" and Under My Wheels" were two of the first songs that touched my rebel soul. The fact that four of the most beautiful women I've ever known introduced me to Alice Cooper.

That bass guitar player was going nuts later in the song. But the Rhythm Section here is just perfect for this kind of music, there's not too much showing off but if you listen to the whole album there is still a fair amount of diversity, but they just do their parts and they blend in so well because they're so perfect for this kind of music.

His dad was a minister. He was an innovator. He wore makeup before Kiss. My schoolmate in high school in Detroit dated him. She also lived with him for awhile and she was the first person to sue and win for palimony. It was granted to her as a common law wife who was not married but split up with a guy and asked for support. She was a model for the fragrance called Charlie way back when.

true story. Thanks for the reminder. Alice left his mark in Detroit and still has fond memories of growing up here. He used to live a few blocks from where I grew up, but I never ran across him as he's about 10 years older.

Great song! It was a rough time to be that age back then. The Vietnam War draft was still going on. You had teenagers who were still relatively minors. Some didn't even get their driver's licenses and cars, weren't at the age to drink, but were old enough to be forced to go to war. This song hit the vibe of that time.

Can’t go wrong with anything by Alice in the 70s. After 1980, not so much. I think Welcome To My Nightmare (album) is his magnus opus, but he has so much good stuff. That would be a good album to react to next October!

A benefit to being 71 years young, I used to see Alice at small clubs in Cleveland, Ohio before they even had a record out. Alice was always out of his mind great! They would do a full show with lighting and props even in a venue that held only 75 people! At one gig I shared a beer with Vince (Alice). The guy was brilliant, intelligent and friendly. Damn...I'm a lucky old fart! Thank you, Lee. You rock and I'm so glad I found you and subscribed. I wish you the best. Peace, love and God bless everyone here.

What a blast from the/my past! In my high school Rock Band days we did a number of Alice Cooper songs, saw them live twice too. We did this song, "Eighteen", (great chord progression for improvised soloing, Em, C, D), "Be My Lover", and "Dead Babies",... I think that' was it. My memory is a little foggy recalling some of those days!

There is a banger from that album called Long Way to Go that was featured in a blockbuster movie, The World According to G.A.R.P., featuring Robin Williams and Glenn Close.

Hey Lee from Ned in Spain. Me and the Ms. are huge Alice Cooper Band fans. Don't like much after the original members quit but he's a frikkin legend. This is the LP got them famous. There are 2 previous LP's but when Bob Ezrin became the producer and they moved to high energy rock city Detroit they tore it to shreds. This whole LP is classic. " Caught in a Dream" " Long Way To Go" " Dwight Fry" " Is it My Body" ....Awesome

Alice Cooper actually has a couple of really solid rock ballads to check out. I recommend starting with “Only Women Bleed” and “I Never Cry” “I Never Cry” was inspired in part by Alice’s extreme alcohol addiction, he used to drink so much and he became so dehydrated that he realized that he didn’t have tears to cry. “No More Mr. Nice Guy” is another great and interesting rocker by Alice that is worth checking out

There's a great live version of them doing this on the Beat Club from 71 that's REALLY fun to watch, they add a little bit extra to it. Alice Cooper was simply Alice Cooper and no other band did what they did. Love It To Death was a concept album made to draw you into his world and it teetered on disturbed. I saw them live in Cincinnati the same week this album was released. There were only maybe 300 people there. It didn't matter to them. The gave the full out performance of the album from first song to last. Very impressive show. Alice later broke from his band and began hiring hit men and the mystic left and became more commercial. IMO Love It To Death was his defining album. The Ballad of Dwight Frye is a masterpiece.

Awesome as usual, I really enjoy your reviews. Summer of '73, I turned 18. I was cruising around with the stereo blasting FM radio, and this song came on as a "blast from the past", according to the DJ. It's been kind of a theme song for me across all these years. Alice Cooper were a band for seven albums , and great for four of them . They peaked with their last great album , then Alice's ego took over . Their last album as a band was recorded together , but apart , and it shows . Alice Cooper then became a solo act . The band was none to impressed with the new ALICE . Welcome to my Nightmare was a landmark release by solo Alice . A concept album from the word go . The rest of his career has bin a gentle slide maintained by ancient history . The Ballad of Dwight Fry is one of my favorites by the band .

At one time in the early 1970s, ALICE was the BIGGEST ROCK ST☆R in the WORLD! He was good friends with GROUCHO MARX & SALVADOR DALI, among many others. He appeared on the MUPPET SHOW. He is the KING of SHOCK ROCK who pioneered an entirely Theatrical ROCK & ROLL SHOW. He is a consumate Showman who has mastered his trade for 50+ years and STILL GOING STRONG!

This was the "hit single" from the Love It To Death album, released before the album itself. That said, it's not as good as most of the rest of the album. Listen to Hallowed Be Thy Name from the same album. The line "The queens are out dancing but now they're not funny 'cause there goes one walking away with your sonny" is a great example of the real Alice Cooper. But anyway, when I turned 18 in 1978, I blasted I'm Eighteen on my stereo...
