For the record Dwight Frye was an early film actor that often played neurotic and murderous villians.

I’ve seen movies with the actor Dwight Frye. He usually played very offbeat characters. Alice is probably referring to his portrayal of Renfield. Alice is one of rock’s greatest lyricists. I love how he refers to his straight jackets as a straight white vest like he’s not sure what it’s really for.

I've got 3 Alice Cooper songs for you. Number 1: "Billion Dollar Babies," the construction of the song is very unusual. In the song he does a duet with Donavan. One part is spoken, the other is sung. And they're both in different tempos. But somehow they manage to come together perfectly. It's very cool. 2: "Lost in America." Great lyrics, Great message. Great instrumentation. Great vocals. 3. "I Better Be Good." Light and fun and hilarious. I recommend all 3 plus a hundred more.

Hi BIz! Alice Cooper is all about great songs and is very theatrical on stage. This song he does wearing a straight jacket and looks crazy! His concerts are huge productions. I've seen him many times over the decades and no other rock concerts compare. He has so many great songs. Here's a some more that you should review, Halo of Flies, Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome to my Nightmare, Muscle of Love and for a few excellent ballads he's done, Only Women Bleed, You and Me and How you Gonna See me now. Love the reviews Biz, keep them coming!

Saw Alice several times in the early '70s and there was nothing like an Alice Cooper concert. When it came to the combination of theatrics and great rock and roll, the Alice Cooper Band was second to none. They usually opened their shows with "Under My Wheels", or "Hello Hooray", a couple of great ones for Biz to play for us. Some other Alice classics that Biz hasn't reacted to are "Be My Lover", "Caught in a Dream", "My Stars", "Luney Tune", "Elected", "Billion Dollar Babies", "Is it My Body", "Generation Landslide", "Department of Youth", "Public Animal #9."

I am such a fan of Alice, we're going next month to his concert in Springfield, MO. In honor of that, could you please review his new single, "I'm Alice"! it is insanely awesome. Released a few weeks ago, but has that 70's vibe of his music. If you can't do that, please do "Nobody Likes Me". its one of those very hidden gems, only available on his box set orignally. Its also the song that got him signed by Frank Zappa, because when they played it in a california club called "the whiskey", literally everyone walked out. Except Zappa.

People today don't realize that there were/are 2 different Alice Coopers. First there was the Alice Cooper band which was fronted by a guy named Vincent Furnier. They made 5 very successful albums, had a lot of hits, and then broke up. Sometime after the band breakup Vince Furnier copyrighted the Alice Cooper name and decided to continue using it for his solo career. This solo act is the Allice Cooper most people are familiar with today. Ballad of Dwight Fry was from the band's first album "Love It to Death." The big hit off of this album was "I'm Eighteen."

Correction there, the first two albums the Alice Cooper band put out were "Pretties for You" and "Easy Action". Both were more psychedelic sounding, this was the first album thad had a more traditional rock sound to it. I bought a CD set that had the first five albums they put out, from "Pretties for You" up to "School's Out". I've probably listened to "Love it to Death" and "School's Out" the most of the five
@jvsmith7888
@jvsmith7888 Жыл бұрын
@@TuxKamen Yeah, I probably should have included them. They were actual releases but it's kind of hard to take them seriously. The one they did for Zappa only sold like 100 copies when it first came out. The production quality was also substandard when compared to the 5 WB releases. I've actually heard these (got a kick out of Shoe Salesman) and had a hard time recognizing the band at times. Still, I should have included them.

@@jvsmith7888 First time I listened to the very first album, I almost blasted my eardrums. I was listening on a headset and thought it was too quiet at first 😀Those are the two I've listened to the least. The set made me appreciate listening to the original albums more, instead of just greatest hits collections, because there are some really good songs on there that might not have gotten radio play because the studios didn't push them as singles

This song hooked me in back when the album came out. very infectious chord progression and compelling lyrics/vocals.The chocking man is left up to interpretation but my take was that it was someone else trying to escape just before him who didn't make it (metaphorically) and he was glad it wasn't him.. Why he was chocking who knows, but it was clearly outside the institution on the street. Did he attack him? I think Alice purposely left that to conjecture ...
