I remember when Kai Hahto played in the band called Rotten Sound. I was a doorman in the Valhalla Metal Bar, Finland at the end of the 90's. They had a gig going- and of course I was watching it tight. And Kai was grinning and making faces at me while he was drumming😵😃 Try to listen to Rotten Sound..?! He has always been the master!!!

I had a classmate in the beginning of the decade who was part of the metal scene in Helsinki and I overheard him talking to a drummer from another class about Kai and Rotten Sound. Can´t exactly how the quote went, but it was about Kai being like: "I suck, I can´t play anything" while he was able to play everything :D

Hell yes. He's one of these guys that just feel so reliablle. Just shows up, does the job so well and efficientlly, and he also brought his own lunch and coffee so he's all good.

I play a few instruments but mainly guitars, largely self taught but I did get a teacher for help with theory and a few advanced techniques. I also got to sit in on a friend's drum lessons and it's not how you'd think it would go, they're already really good so they just ask you where you want to go, assess where you could use work and help you move forward with some really cool stuff, definitely do it if you can, even if it's not for long because we can always improve!

This was an interesting video !!! It is interesting to hear the opinions and thoughts of a person who understands the playing of drums. Now that Nightwish hasn’t gotten on tour, Kai Hahto has taken students. I don’t know what it costs, but the price includes two days of tuition, accommodation and food. To my understanding, from April or May to October, almost all weekends are reserved for teaching. Many want a lesson from him ... :) And I'm not surprised at all!

kai played earlier in grindcore band called rotten sound,there is some crazy drumcams you definitely need to see,try rotten sound-obey or perfection for example.

JohnG., maybe you know him already but there is on KZbin a drumcam fella called Zypher Drums who is a student of Kai. Apparently when he travelled to Finland, they studied for an hour, then drunk alcoholic beverages and sweated in the sauna for three days. Kai doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would get pissed off at a student. Pissed with, maybe.

I found Zypfer. The one reaction you're talking about was my first with him. Might have been his first too. It 's a brand new channel. Kai is a drum teacher but apparently also a getting wasted teacher. Whiskey I think it was they were drinking.

Kai joined Nightwish just to take it easy for a while after Wintersun, LOL. However, his drumming on Nightwish's new 2020 album is phenomenal. He even added 5 more drums to his set on his left side. P.S. As far as I know, Kai uses Balbex drumsticks. P.S.S. Maybe you should become one of Kai's students.

I don't know much about drumming, but what comes to Wintersun, I think the drums in the song Eternal Darkness goes to another level in craziness. Not necessarily harder technically, but man it must be extremely exhausting, there's something like 10 minutes of blast beats. I have taken lessons twice from Kai Hahto, highly recommend. it's not terribly expensive, of course everything is relative, but for example 45min. massage here in finland is more expensive than a drum lesson from Kai,.what is best , the price includes food and an overnight stay in his home, you do not need a hotel. if you have ever considered taking drum lessons, you should take them from this man.
