I made a promise yesterday that I would do a George track... and this was the one with the most likes. And I am so glad that it won... WOW! What did I just listen to?? Phil Spector NAILED this mix. It sounds amazing. I don't say that much, but damn.... lol. What a blend of sounds and feelings. George was SO ready to go after the breakup lol a triple album to start off his solo career. What a dude.

George started writing this epic tune in 1968 - he presented a demo version to The Beatles during "Let it be",....not accepted, like a few other tracks on this album. George's son Danhi has done some awesome performances of this song during his live sets. Very like his Dad at times, yet modern.

Good choice!!! I've been listening to this since it came out in 1970. You need to hear the 2020 remix of the whole album. If you think this is good listen to the 50th anniversary edition. Gets rid of the Spector mud where you can actually hear the instruments instead of compression. Trust me Lee, you'll appreciate it even more.

You should listen to “ballad of sir Frankie Crisp” on the same album. You may have heard it already, it featured in an episode of a very popular tv show, I’m not gonna say which one, want to see the look on your face when you listen to it for the first time as you try to figure out where you have heard it before (if you’ve seen the show), because that’s the look I had when I heard this song on the album. Lee I find George's early post Fab songs rival his late mid sixties pieces ( i e. Within You Without You , While My Guitar Gently Weeps , Long Long Long , It's All Too Much , Something and Here Comes The Sun ! ) . Mostly of course from All Things Must Pass ( though this title track like many was done as a Beatle ! ) .This track you've done is okay I've always liked it though I wish he'd bring his voice out more. 🤡🌈🇦🇺

Maybe my favorite track from this album. Derek and The Dominoes (Eric Clapton, Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle) were the core band. Badfinger did acoustic guitars. Whitlock says for years George used to personally sign and mail out royalty checks, and he calculates the checks paid his electric bill each month since then.

George started concentrating on slide guitar playing when he and Clapton toured with Delaney and Bonnie and Friends in 1969. He also plays a slide solo on the Badfinger song "Day After Day". The 50th Anniversary edition was remixed (supervised by Dhani Harrison) to remove a lot of the Phil Spector echo and reverb, which George didn't like.

It is generally said that the group Derek & The Dominoes was born during the All Things Must Pass sessions. The guys got to know each other musically playing together on these sessions. What is rarely talked about is that the original formation of the group includes Dave Mason as second guitarist. Their first few trial live appearances around London were promoted as 'Eric Clapton And Friends' and had Dave Mason as part of the ranks originally. What I heard was that Dave Mason didn't want to travel to the US to record the album as Clapton had planned, so he didn't, thus leaving the project. Makes one think about what if regarding Mason.

@marcribe6483
@marcribe6483 21 күн бұрын
@@billalbritton4972 Well yes, Harrison's foray with Delaney & Bonnie is how the chaps ended up on the All Things Must Pass sessions. But they didn't leave Delaney & Bonnie because they wanted to form a new band. Most people left because Delaney & Bonnie were always fighting with each other as husbands and wives do. But at some point it just became a tad too much, I suppose you could say. The general story of the birth of the group centers around the guys wanting to play together as its own entity during these All Things Must Pass sessions with George Harrison. Another way to look at it is to say George Harrison hired the lot for his album sessions and afterwards Eric Clapton, not yet confident enough to fully commit to a solo career, hired the core group as his new vehicle naming them Derek & The Dominoes to the dismay of the two Americans in the band.

already watched 5 times today...very very good song...I think Spector is good for george's songs because his song always get a calm and relax feel and Spector's production really add a different more dramatic and more energetic layer to it, also his songs are always guitar based so add strings is good. While on the beatles 'Let it be' album he add dramatic strings to already dramatic Paul songs then it feels over dramatic.

I never cared for Phil Spector's work with The Beatles - it was way over-produced for their sound. Just compare The Long And Winding Road from the original Let It Be (a good song, no doubt) to the one on Let It Be ... Naked - so much more personal and ... well, The Beatles. However, I really feel he was a GREAT match for George Harrison's solo work. But that being said, Jeff Lynne was maybe my favorite for George (When We Was Fab, et al.), and he also did a really good job with The Beatles' Now And Then (not a definitive list by any means). Thank you for bringing this, Lee.

On some tracks, Spector’s “Wall of Sound” approach comes close to overwhelming George’s compositions. And that was the case with “Wah-Wah,” which George said he hated when Spector played it back to him. (from Showbiz Cheat Sheet) On the original vinyl release, the vocals struggle to break through Spector’s heavy production. On some tracks you can't even count the number of tambourines. You won't but I'll knock Phil. George also hated the heavy Reverb Spector put on evwrything.

Good Choice, but was this the one with the most likes? I believe in my tally. " Its All too Much" beat it. Of course it was suggested twice, someone made their suggestion with an exclamation point and someone else didn't. But no biggie Lee. That's one reason I hate these votes. Its all too Much wasn't my suggestion, and the only video was from Yellow Sub and that was not the full song. Of course the original Let It Down didn't have a proper video either. I am just glad you are getting into George Harrison. I know you will enjoy it.
