Fun fact of today's Mili song: "IDEAL" "ODD" and "THAT'S ALL" are highlighted because they are rought homophones in Korean... they all read more or less "Yi Sang", and that is the ALSO name of the character this battle theme is dedicated to (he is not the boss tho', he's just that, the one this song is dedicated to, as this plays during the peak of his character arc) oh! by the by, those 3 words were the root of the entire song, the singer confirmed it, first she thought about how to play with the character's name (again: Yi Sang), and when those 3 words where decided, she wrote the rest of the song In other news, how's the copyright sinkhole treating you? if you got in trouble I would feel at least a bit guilty for pointing you to challenge the claims... (and if you got the approval, be it by Mili or by defaulting, then I want to go all "told ya :3" on you XD)

Cassie basically said herself that as soon as she learnt about the Yi Sang talking in puns throughout the game, she had the urge to incorporate them in the song

To add a little more of fun facts. the character Yi sang is based on a actual person, Yi sang. who is often considered to be one of the most 'genius' writer of the modern times(19th century) in history of Korean literature. a novel call 'wing' is one of his best works. which seems to be a motif this song. Yi sang was a person who was deeply fascinated in the concept of 'modernism'. Though, the reality of modern life was far from what he expected. As he felt, it was null. Therefore in the novel 'wing' (which the main character is told to be a reflection of Yi sang, himself.) shows a tragic life of a fallen man. The novel is famous for its first phrase "Have you heard of of a genius, who've became a taxidermy" and the final sequence. At the end of the novel, the main character stands on a rooftop of the department store (which was considered as a symbol of modern culture at the time). He tries to shout "sprout out, my wings. let's fly. fly, once more. let's fly for just one more time." but his voice didn't came out. Then it says he went back on the ground. The phrase "he went back on the ground" has multiple interpretation between the scholars. some say it means, even though he couldn't speak out his eager for ideal he didn't gave up his hope, came down from the rooftop and walked himself back to home. The others say the expression "he went back on the ground" is an illustration of suicide. since he couldn't shout out, he couldn't overcome the depression, therefore he threw himself to the ground from the rooftop.

Im starting to recognize a pattern when we get one terrifying chapter with a lot of suffering pain and worst City's horrors and another Canto with some kind of sad, depressed but relaxed plot (except for Canto 2. It wasnt depressing at all, but still had some kind of happy ending). So based on all of the above, I have to guess that in Canto 5 we will see lots of suffering, which will result in terrifying boss music . Im actually excited to hear that when Canto 5 ends

Of course, the main overarching idea of “lament” is present in this video. To me, this song is meant to embody how it feels to be at your absolute lowest moment. However, there’s an element of hope there, too. Once you find your wings, you can be free, move on from the forces that staked you down and imprisoned you in the past.

Mili is no stranger to what many would see as dark topics, in much of their music, there is that dark undertone in the lyrics, and the lyrics themselves are very unorthodox compared to normal writing. There are reasons as to why i've been such a huge mili fan for many years. the music is so unique and is just phenomenal
@ziitania9939 Жыл бұрын
I'm always happy to see more people reacting to Mili. I think I mentioned this previously, but I found Mili through their collaboration with Project Moon on Library of Ruina, and grew to become a huge fan of theirs, even in songs unrelated to Limbus or Ruina. I also just like the subtle horror and dark subject matter that a lot of Mili's songs cover, ranging from the existential dread of AI and loneliness in songs like "world.execute(me)" to songs like this one, "Fly, My Wings" about reaching out for dreams that you think you can never reach, and a genius who just wants to experience 'normalcy'. Alright, returning to lurker mode now, thank you for the amazing content as always!

The release dates were already shown, and we will (most certainly, following the usual pattern of final bosses) get the next mili song on the 30th of November, with the release of the 3rd part of Canto V. I think there is no way it would get delayed even further, because this is already a highly delayed release compared to the original plan, and we are so close to it at this point.

As someone who grew up with a near prodigious level of intelligence. I found people would infinitely heighten the bar for expectations and thay my life became railroaded. Eventually i became severely ill psychologically as a result and spiralled. In chaining myself to melancholy i ended up isolating for years and utterly ruining all prospects for myself. This song, the entirety of canto four destroyed me. It left me a gibbering wreck. Something about yi sang shook me to my core and the music itself broke me. This song from Mili will always be important to me, because it serves as a muse for me that im going to choose my own path in life and i want to be the best at it. That path i thought would be impossible, merely is a long road in which i lacked the faith to overcome. All i ever needed was to take a single footstep

As much as I love this song, I wish we had a version that mirrored how it worked in game. Here is a breakdown of how it plays through this 3 phase boss fight Phase 1 plays from “Fly Broken Wings” to “Closer to our ideal”. It loops the lyrics twice before transitioning to a full instrumental of the same part until the start of Phase 2. Phase 2 turns on the lyrics from wherever the instrumental is currently at now adding on the second verse from “Teary eyes” to the humming part. After two loops it transitions once more to a full instrumental. Phase 3 adds back in the lyrics only now it adds the third verse with the loop to the start now happening right before “the soil gave me warmth”. Once again, the song switches to an instrumental after 2 loops. When you get the boss down to 1 hp, the song instantly moves to “the soil gave me warmth” part as the final cutscene starts to play, ultimately culminating in the “Fly Perfect Wings” section playing in sync with when you deal the final hit to the boss.

Fly, My Wings is the piece that plays during the final boss of Canto IV (Canto, instead of chapter, in reference to Dante's Inferno) of the main story. They implemented this song in the bossfight as an adaptive piece, where parts of the lyrics would slowly be unlocked the further you progress through the fight, and the piano melody would fill in as a loop to extend the length of the song, with occasional repeats of the lyrics to remind you of the themes of the entire chapter. The final drop of the piece would play as its own in-game cutscene, displaying what many could only describe as a masterful ending to a play that transcribed the life and struggles of a once humble research team which developed technologies for the sake of it, rather than for profit. Project Moon, despite their controversies, is known for being masters of storytelling and IMO its been a while since they last peaked at their writing. Usually, every time they would collaborate with Mili to make a song dedicated to a certain character or group of characters, you could feel the writers pouring their hearts out the way their art is presented. Canto III did this to some extent but it lacked a little more something to make me feel like the writing deserved a Mili song. Don't get me wrong, Between Two Worlds is special, but idk if Canto III deserved something that grand. Though now, knowing how well written Canto IV is, whenever the main story of Limbus Company comes to some closure, I can trust PM to make In Hell We Live, Lament feel even harder than it already does with the context whatever the story will be in the future and the context of the 13 (maybe 14) pieces of literature the 15 characters of the main cast are based off. IDK what the patreon list looks like right now, but I hope some songs from Library of Ruina (PM's previous game) pop up, because I'd love to hear your reaction and short analysis of them. Especially Iron Lotus and And Then is Heard No More. God Library of Ruina was so good.
@Disorder2312 Жыл бұрын
It's just that Canto III had a very special aspect that many players love (or hate), which is the N Corp Inquisition, and of course for their brutality and design in particular, but i would agree maybe that the summary of it was way too brief, becuase after all, all of it had to be released with the rest of the chapters, so might have been a bit rushed. I'm not that huge fan of Canto IV as seemingly the majority of the player base is, but maybe i would agree that if Canto III was written in a similar way, it would've been much better. But that's just a preference i guess. I was quite disappointed by the Canto IV ending, and even the song Fly, My Wings, as i expected it was just the first part, plus i didn't feel the boss to be that challenging. I still can't properly catch the feeling of the whole story, even as i tried to dive deep into it after all this time. Maybe that's even the whole point. A noticeable good thing for me was that it only clarified a lot of lore questions, and made even more of them...
@shlflfe-cedprqul1891 Жыл бұрын
@@Disorder2312 Ill be honest and say that Canto III story was pretty ok for me overall. I don't know if the rest of the fanbase just liked N Corp because it brings some more brutality back into the game's story because the first few chapters kinda made the City look somewhat livable in. Gameplay-wise Canto III sucks because of the level curve which is likely why I have a bias against it. I just found the story an interesting reshaping of Sinclair's book of origin, Demian. Even still, I'm not sure I like exactly how the dungeon told the story. It really wasn't that hard for me either, the dungeon. Canto IV on the other hand, I thought that the writing was bordering on pretty slow, having a few filler pieces of dialogue here and there, thought definitely a lot less than the first half or so of Canto III. Difficulty is kinda whatever at some point of the regular stages. Things just slowly fell into pieces by 4-54. Even though its like technically not even that long, the aspect of Yi Sang's life as a researcher being put into a play was amazing for me. It felt significantly more valuable for me to fully complete the dungeon compared to Canto III's dungeon because of that. This is also the Canto where I actually needed to use my brain again against Dongbaek's multiple EGO forms and Dongrang's two fights in the dungeon. Like, the fact that I actually had to read in this game for once is an achievement. It felt like I was playing Library of Ruina again, and I think that's an amazing achievement for a game that, to me, felt like simplified LoR. Even if those fights weren't hard for some people, LoR was never "hard" to begin with, you just had to read, experiment, and calculate risks. It did require a lot of reading and trying to understand the mechanics to understand all the game's ins and outs but that was a more enjoyable experience even if it was technically 'hard'.

God I loved this chapter (lore, boss and music wise. Regular battles were somewhat of a hindrance) This song is good and the way it was delivered in game was superb (Through the different Boss phases, the song would "unlock" the next part. That final *oomph* being a beautiful cinematic using the gameplay style) Also, another Limbus recommendation would be Dongbaek's theme, it isn't a Mili song and doesn't have vocals, but I think it's worth listening because of how beautiful it is. (it's also from the same chapter) And after that I don't think there's much more to cover about Limbus, but there's a whole lot to cover about Library of Ruina (the prequel)
