@@商昱鹏 I've been playing genshin for over 3 years now but I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised by Natlan's musical style. I don't know all the instruments used in the video but I can feel through the choice of certain instruments from my country a spiritual symbolism. because the "Balafon" is an instrument of rejoicing but is also used for initiation rituals under the title "Tam Tam parleur"(Djembé) which is used to deliver messages by prescussion. I don't play it myself but judging by the rhythm of the music and the lyrics of the song, I can say with certainty that it is an awakening ceremony. I like Natlan's music. What a pity that I can't translate the words of the "Tam Tam parleur" for you. I am not initiated...

As someone who grows in a tribal culture (not part of the tribe) I really tear up when I heard this symphony. The lyric so fired up, just exactly how a tribe respect their heroes and ancestors. Also the traditional music intruments, I don't know what that tiny round flute called but they sound so much like bird, that's what I expecting from an instrumental that inspired by nature. Natlan anthem just sooo rich. Which also reassure me that genshin's ost just still stood up even without Mr. Yu

I would say the instruments are definitely more common and widespread through the southern portion of peru. Although there are also higher pitched “quenillas” that are used in the amazon, instruments like Harps, violins, and saxophones become the signature instruments for andean peruvian music from the central parts and upwards. The thing is that these have not been as popularized in the mainstream conscience of andean culture as much as the zampoña/quenas have. Meanwhile over at colombia which is still an andean country, they have a loooot of even more different instruments like the tiple, carangano, cienpies, chuchos, etc etc etc.

The metal one is a glockenspiel. Western style wood one is xylophone. Metal but with slider controlled foot petal is a vibraphone. What we have here though is a Balafon (Balaphone). The Balafon is originally an African instrument, but after the slave trade, it was recreated after former slaves become free and settled in the Caribbean Islands. They also made the banjo to somewhat recreated an african instrument.

10:00 It could be called an ocarina, but it is actually a flute or whistle widely used by the ancient Mexicas and other cultures of pre-Columbian América. One of the few instruments that survived after the conquest. And yes, it was taken by the Spaniards to Europe and subsequently transformed, which gave rise to the ocarina that everyone knows. There is also a whistle of Chinese origin, but it is less known in comparison.

So, this song is probably the best music in pretty much any game. Its so well composed and written and I literally jumped out of my seat in excitement when I heard it. It has this war like character of some traditional war songs( I'm African, so I've heard some of these war songs from my tribes at least) The language they sing in is swahili, which is an East African language mostly spoken in kenya and tanzania. One amazing thing about this language is that many tribes in this countries have contributed one way or another to this language. So basically its an amalgamation of East African tribes and a bit of Arabic as well. Its such a beautiful language and I'd say its character contributed alot to the greatness of the song. I would wish that it would be used more in orchestral settings coz it makes it so much more impressive. Baba yetu from civ 4 is one such example of swahili being used in orchestra and its insane. That being said, as a swahili speaker myself, there are lots of issues when it comes to translation. Majority is mostly OK, but there are alot of grammatical errors etc. They probably should have consulted some native speakers to help on translating the lyrics. One example is that the words "mara ya tena" dont make sense. In the translation it should be once again once again which should be translated to "mara nyingine na nyingine". Lots of issues are present every once in a while. But otherwise, it's an amazing song. Hope natlan has more of this
@Someone45356
@Someone45356 3 ай бұрын
I have a question, how would you rewrite the egregious parts of the lyrics to make them make more sense? Are there any issues with fitting syllables with the song vs the possible rewriting that would take place? Is the song slow enough that it could be circumvented?
@madara5458
@madara5458 3 ай бұрын
@@Someone45356 The thing with swahili is that there is alot of freedom when it comes to writing. One word can translate to a whole sentence in English, but said word would have alot of syllables. Writing syllables in swahili is very simple actually. When you see a consonant followed by a vowel, those two letters are syllables. Here are a few cases where a single letter is a syllable. There's ita(call) where i is the syllable, amka(wake up) where a and m are syllables etc. Max letters for a syllable would be 3 letters. These syllables can be pronounced as fast or as slow as you would wish. Say for example the word "kumbukeni" used in the song at 3:33 .Luckily the lyrics are there so you may be able to tell where and how they used this word. In this case the word has 4 syllables ku-mbu-ke-ni and they kind of drew out the "mbu" syllable in order to fit the rhythmic flow of the sing. An example of the converse taking place is with the word "matumaini"(I can't really put in the time stamp here, but you can shock the lyrics to see where they used it) the word has 5 syllables ma-tu-ma-i-ni. In this case, the syllables tu-ma-i were pronounced very fast, as if they were trying to fit in the 5 syllable word within a crotchet beat, which they did of course and it still worked. The point I'm illustrating here is how much freedom you have with manipulating the syllables. Of course, you can't use this all the time coz at that point, the song will not make sense, but in the few instances where by you need to, you have the freedom to do so. Most of the time though, you will draw out one syllable instead of trying to fit them in a single beat because of the sentence to word translation and this one will feel more natural. So now that the preliminaries are out of the way, the worst parts of the lyrics are "Nyimbo kelele sana" to mean "loud music" This doesn't really make sense since in direct translation would be "songs very noisy" or rather "very noisy music" which I'm sure will not fit the meaning behind the song. The alternative would be "nyimbo zenye sauti kubwa" which would fit the intended message. Rhythmically it still fits, at least in my head it does. I'm not going to be able to illustrate how coz I can't necessarily draw out some sheet music in a comment section😅 but trust me, it does. Another fairly irritating section would be the final line "maisha marefu ni sasa" . This one does not make any sense whatsoever. If we translate it, we would get something akin to "long lives are now". I'm trying to translate it as best I could but even then, it's unsalvegeable. It's supposed to translate to "this is the time for rebirth" in which case, a better translation would be "uzazi upya ni sasa" which would loosely fit the meaning while still maintaining rhythmic integrity. Hope my long exposition somewhat helped answer your question

as far as I scrolled through comment section in this live symphony from the Genshin Impact channel (English ver), I didn't see anyone mention the native instruments from the musicians. BUT, if you watch it from the 原神-Genshin-公式 (Japanese ver), you can find a comment explaining those particular instruments with time stamp too. Of course they wrote it in Japanene, but you can easily translate it and search the result in google.

0:29 OOF that's going to be a long time, usually at the end of the 5.X updates, just before 6.0, which usually takes at least a year. V4.0's Trailer OST just released recently and it's been a blast listening to the OSTs!

Natlan is dying. Mavuika was unable to handle the crisis that occurred, even Traveler was unable to resonate with the power of pyro. This is exactly the same as the Native American population, which is their culture Became Natlan's main inspiration. Their culture is also in danger of being lost because European occupation has taken over their land.

Depends on which part. Natlan makes references to the andes and mesoamerica, let me tell you that these places under the spanish crown were the farthest from “dying”. The native nobles were all recognized by the crown of spain and actually got a crud load of priviliges then which also promoted them converting to christinisty which made everyday people do the same to follow their leaders. The amount of baroque works in the americas literally lead it to become the epitome for the entire movement, and we still have countless architecture, paintings, musical works that are all autochtonously made in the americas yet richer than even european equivalents of that time. Places like north america under the US, Oceania, Africa, and even the spanish americas once the republics were established are all completely separate stories meanwhile. That’s what happens when Hoyo doesn’t do their homework to know this key information.

Just so you know if you don't already; Genshin releases Discs featuring EVERY song used in-game and in their Trailers, which you can then look up on their Hoyo channel. The Version Trailer Track you're looking for won't be released until the end of 5.0 unfortunately.
