Hey Dru, thanks for an honest and detailed reaction to this new DLoops tune. Personally, for me, coming from classical music and jazz, this HAS got to be one of the catchiest and most addictive songs by DL, ever…. it’s funny how perspectives can vary so wildly, and there simply is no way of arguing about taste ;) So Jonah’s playing, the way he creates counterpoint and countermelodies in both hands simultaneously, the contrasting sections in the song, that badass drop there before that bridge section, -it’s just all so dope for me, not just on a music nerd level, but as a deeply satisfying musical experience. But hey, each to their own. And I really appreciated your breakdown of some of it. With these new releases from their upcoming album, I feel that “Run Away” was Henrik’s spot to shine, this one here was Jonah’s, and I’m guessing the next one will be inspired by Aron Insanity! Would love for you to break down/analyze more DLoops 👍 howbout some of their earlier covers, or “Work…”, or their Samsung Galaxy ringtone version? That would be awesome and super interesting! Cheers 🤟🤘✌️
@fiddlestix3025Ай бұрын
Forgot: Henrik’s frets on both the basses which he plays here, are True Temperament Frets, custom made in this case, for him by Mattisson Basses, and designed to give an allround better result on intonation on his bass, -a general problem for guitarists playing with frets, since the pitch of one note can be severely out in chords, in certain keys, as well as when playing higher up on the instrument. Henrik said that it’s not perfect, but better than normally-fretted basses…. As a string player, you can’t win with intonation, ever 😉 and he’s had to retune his older basses, sometimes for every single chord or key change, on his earlier recordings.

Wow thank YOU for the detailed comment and analysis! I’m realizing I need to hone in more on Jonah’s playing and take that all in. And crossing my fingers that the next one will have Aron pulling out all the chops!

Fantastic! The cinematic overture contrasted with the dry stabs, just superb. Jonah's classical -jazz training shines here. And do I detect a semblance to the Indian/Bolywood groove, or is it just swing.

OMG they have done it again ..Fantastic !! if this not the new Bond movie theme then this should be, even the title for a Bond movie fits , James Bond in 'When the time is right'...they need to be commissioned to write a Bond Theme or some other Epic movie score...best band on the planet at present.

@@ellenstergaardgravesen1011 The way the strings belatedly come back in reminds me of "It's all nothing until it's everything" on Knower Forever, (which also climaxes in an insane piano solo).

I get the feeling of underwhelming but for me it’s more that it feels cut short. Its so epic and it was building and building. Should have been a 6 minutes song, even if nothing new was added. Just let us stay in the moment and feeling a little bit longer. Also feels like they are exploring. Jonah has said in interviews that he would like to pursue film scoring. So this to me felt like a song with that in mind. Not there best or most typical song but still love it and love that they have the courage to go on a journey and explore. Keep us guessing and keep us surprised and amazed! 🙌🏻
@DruMarshallDrumsАй бұрын
And maybe the cutting short is intentional… to give us a feeling of tension that can only be remedied by listening again. And the cycle repeats 🤔

Been a fan of DL for maaany years and absolutely LOVE all their stuff. This was the first time a new song didn't really do much for me. They're insanely skilled, but this was too much blipblop and six hundred different piano chords for me. Matter of taste, of course.

I agree, it’s not my favorite DL song. My take is that they are trying to evolve in different directions. I know Aron has done quite a lot of classical music composing/arranging lately in a side project, that he probably is now trying to incorporate into the DL sound. Not what the audience expected, but still kind of refreshing. I appreciate that they are trying to do something that THEY like, and don’t just do things for the “likes”. We are all here for the cool stuff, but they have to feel inspired as well, and after almost 15 years of doing what they do it’s normal to explore other styles and expressions.
