Mick solos were great. But he doesn't hold a candle to Ronnie. For sooooo many reasons. What has Mick EVER write??. He plays wonderful lead. No doubt. I have seen them 20 times. But Ronnie blends. Ronnie plays EVERYTHING!!! Love Mick's stuff. But Mick had Keith at his peak. Go to the Faces..well you know what is fact.

Mick Taylor said in terms of HIS guitar playing 'Time Waits for No One.' It is one of his favorite solos. "It's the best thing I did with the Stones. It's not one of their hits; it was an album track. But it was lyrical, and it's a bit different from many other Stones songs because of the structure of the music." He ushed his guitar, playing in a slightly different direction. Played in a different mode in chords the Stones didn't use that much. "My favorite [Stones song in terms of my own guitar playing is 'Time Waits for No One.' I love that solo. It's the best thing I did with the Stones. It's not one of their hits; it was an album track. But it's pretty lyrical and different from many other Stones songs." Thanks for playing this deep cut gem of a song that to often gets overlooked. Thanks for the hard work and all the great tunes Big Soul Lee. Keep on rockin'.

A lot of Stones haters do not understand the remarkable breadth of this band’s over-half-a-century-long oeuvre or just how dynamic and musically explorative they were. In all their incarnations, the Stones were much more than rebel-rousing rock and covered more musical ground than any of their peers.

Hard to believe this came out 50 years ago. Funny how The stones came into their own just as The Beatles were wrapping up: Let It Bleed, Exile, Sticky Fingers.....Mick Taylor really added something special to this band. I love Ronnie, but it's like having two Keiths.

This was one of their really great albums from start to finish. Not all their albums met that mark and were milestones. This one was. This was the second Stones album I purchased after Exile on Main Street. Considering he would leave soon, it was nice to hear Mick Taylor play such a great solo. Keith was mainly playing Rhythm, Mick was the soloist.

Instead I had to get up out of the chair or off the floor to return the needle to the start of the song. That kind of excercise keeps you fit! I knew that you would really enjoy this song. Keep going kiddo.

Keith who doesn't toss out compliments frequently called Mick Taylor a virtuoso.
@dandare42
@dandare42 Ай бұрын
He has at times praised Mick and been more complimentary in recent years but in the moment and throughout the years following Taylor's departure, Keith also was a bit cruel in that he derided him for quitting the band and throwing away a great position (though Mick T claims staying in the band would've killed him plus he was tired of frequently not getting writing credits when he helped put together songs with Mick J). Also has said that the bluesy noodling wasn't really a Stones thing and that Ron Wood's style of playing (more on the rhythmic side with Chuck Berry type of leads) fit the band better. Even if that's true, his playing elevated the music and his time in the band was arguably their most legendary.

@@flyingburritobro68 So many people around the Stones party culture got swept up in it and tried to hang with Keith but could not. He may have gotten way out there but somehow only Keith could live like that and still live to tell the tale whereas Mick Taylor had to leave to try cleaning himself up, Jimmy Miller was a mess and never really recovered. Bobby Keys, Marshall Chess, etc. Not many Stones inner circle came away unscathed. Bill Wyman one of the few who went the whole way with few substance issues popping up. Even poor Charlie went off his rocker for a few years in the 80s!

Other Stones tracks for the Mick Taylor fancier: Love in Vain (Ladies and Gentlemen version is my fave but there's a bunch), Sway. There's also a jamming outtake from 1970 called Travellin Man where MT rocks out for five or six minutes while Jagger improvises. And for the instrumentation fan there's Memo from Turner. listen to the one from the film performance. It's revelatory. it isn't MT though on that record. It's Ry Cooder, another goat.
