Drummer Travel VLOG #2: Calling Planet Earth, Folkstone 20/01/24

Hello and welcome to the Vlog!
If you’re an old time follower of Drum With Alex, welcome back! And if you’re a new viewer, hi, it’s nice to meet you!
In this Vlog I come back from a short holiday in Gran Canaria to the UK, travelling to Folkstone for a gig with Calling Planet Earth.
I was feeling nervous before the gig, having not done too much practise during the week leading up to the gig. Plus our lead singer Mike was poorly with bronchitis and our musical director and bass player, Clayton, was away as well.
Joe Overend stepped in on bass and what a pleasure it was to play alongside him!
It was a gig with a few ups and downs - there was a bit of panic before the show as we couldn’t login to one of the iPads which had the click tracks. Luckily we rang Clayton and he helped us get it working.
One thing I’m learning about being involved in a theatre show is that you have to be agile as lots of things happen behind the scenes and you have to be prepared for every eventuality!
It was great to explore the beautiful town of Hythe in Kent before the gig. What a lovely place. I particularly loved Mit Milch Coffee shop which did a cracking Cortardo (like a mini version of a Flat White). And it was great to see so many independent shops all along the high street. I’d love to go back in the future!
As always, do you have any recommendations for Hythe/Folkstone? Maybe you live in the local area and know a few hidden treasures?
And as always, what was your favourite part of the Vlog? I’d love to know your feedback and then maybe focus on those bits for future videos.
