Good for you guys for bringing awareness towards Interac and how they treat their employees. I think a lot of people on KZbin who work for them make it look like a dream via their videos.

The people who mostly do that are rookie ALTs that are still going through their honey moon phase.

Thank you for covering the video and spreading the message. I have a lot of internal emails and information that makes this situation a whole lot worse. Unfortunatly I cannot release them as Interac would likely follow the trail back to me. Keep up the good fight!

Shoot me a message on Twitter, if you want. We could talk about potential ways to release the information without it being damaging to those who did?

Great video! It's so nice to know that I’m not alone. I was a Head Teacher in Kanagawa for five years. This past year Interac cut the Head Teacher positions and didn't even tell us our position and pay were being cut. I found out later from an IM, who still has a soul, the higher-ups did it to crunch the numbers and stuff their pockets. Interac can afford to give the ALTs more money, they just choose to keep it for themselves. I remember in 2016 there was a big uproar about the salary. The former MC in Kanagawa told everyone at a monthly meeting that Interac would go bankrupt if it gave more money to the ALTs. He tried a give everyone a guilt trip about it while making Interac out to be the victims.

Good work, gentlemen. I served time in dispatch and eikaiwa in late 90s and early 2000s and what discouraged me most was that my colleagues didn't seem to be aware of how absurd the conditions were. Good you're bringing rational light to this horrible industry.

I saw the Interac video a couple of days ago and couldn't help but chuckle. I quit there a couple of years ago. To Rodney's credit (the guy that made the video), he was my manager, my name is John and I 10 out of 10 took a sick day cause I played games all night. The guy and I but heads and I caught him flat out lying to me and others, so hey, what do you expect.

@@DecvsJapan he wasn't fired, he quit. I also worked for Kansai and with Rodney. I knew him when he was Trainer before he became an IM. He was always that "fake friend" feeling. Always make things sound "great" when it's not. He would send out emails how, your absence affects 1000 people etc.

I didn't know about this video, but that really DOES sound like bullshit... good you speak out about this! A little "off-topic" comment... Dec, remember a few weeks ago on one of your videos I told you in the comments about the announcement from Girugamesh and that something was coming for the first time after their breakup in 2016... well, just a couple of hours ago they released a music video for their NEW song "Engrave", you should really check it out! If not for a reaction video then at least for yourself, but I'd love to know your thoughts about it!

Just fyi, your holidays do increase when you are working with Interac (up to 20 total--well, actually 10). They have to by law*. *By law that is actually enforced, I mean. :D They have, of course, broken the law in other ways.
@DecvsJapan2 жыл бұрын
Worked there for 4 years and mine never increased. My mate's been working there for 10 and his have never increased.
@fukuoka-musician2 жыл бұрын
@@DecvsJapan I suggest you double-check. This is de rigueur for Japanese companies (by law and by culture). Including Interac. Definitely grounds for a lawsuit if they screwed the pooch on this one. But I'm going to guess that they didn't. (Interac abuses gray laws, not black-and-white ones.) Let us know if the case is otherwise, please.

Why do some ALTs just wake up and like choose poverty. U could litterally just go home and work at McDonalds and make more money and have actual career progression. Being an ALT is pretty much the same as going abroad and doing a working holiday

Agreed. It's a crazy easy job and it's a great experience (I mean I guess this can vary on your placement) and a great thing to come home and put on your resume. It seems like 90% of the complaints are from weebs who just NEED to stay in Japan for some reason yet have no skills that can progress them farther in Japan aside from ALTing.
