My brain can comprehend up to 4/3 or 3/4 at quick tempo, but even switching between them takes effort - fyi I've ben playing guitar for 15 years and bass for 5 years. The 5/4 just blew my mind!! the amount of time spent learning that is literally priceless

Must be one of the best polyrythm videos explanations for drummer on youtube. This is easy for jay, maybe he has a hard time playing straight 4/4 beats haaha

Would you believe, most TesseracT songs are 4/4 - we're just messing with odd-timed ostinatos 😎

Oh, man! Why didn’t I find this channel earlier? This is GOOD stuff! No fuzz, just arrow straight to the point, with really simple and easy to follow directions and steps! Fantastic job sir! I am a huge fan of this kind of stuff and use polyrhythms, ploymeters, meter shifts and modulations all the time. But I love watching how other people work with this and think about it. Sometimes I pick up stuff that unlocks or simplifies things I already do, or strive for. I of course know Tesseract already but did not catch that it was you in this video when I clicked on it! Instant sub, and definitely binge watching everything on your channel! Cheers!

For anyone who would like to hear a killer 5/4 drum beat, check out Kas$cade by Animals as Leaders if you haven't yet! The intro, up to about 0:30 into the song, demonstrates a 5/4 beat and some interesting fill ideas based around 16th notes with quintuplet accents. Super fun riff to play, too.

Love the sneaky 5:4 polyrhythm at 3:52 instead of the 3:4 that, nice way to check we're paying attention like the good wee rhythm section we all are. I'm sure we all noticed that, right class?

Something I learned from an Adam Neely video: You can assign phrases to polyrhythms where the syllables line up with the overall polyrhythm. 3/4: Pass the goddamn butter 5/4: I’m looking for a home to buy 3/2: Doesn’t have a phrase, but it’s just Carol of the Bells. Everyone knows that song. 😅

@Ironsvillage10 ай бұрын
I thought I was tripping, yeah it definitely is a 3:4. Everyone makes mistakes and that's fine. Another 2:3 would be in Phoenix between hi-hat and ride/china
