AK hand. When you're not sure if villain has a medium strength hand or a missed draw, I do a version of the "merge bet" going for thin valuebut also leaving the door open for missed draws to raise. Bet 25% pot and get looked up by worse hand or potentially raised by missed draws. The best of both worlds. Great session!
@davidgraney3413 Жыл бұрын
Funny how we both agree on the sizing but I would've planned on a fold to raises. I do see your merit though but I play 1-2 and 1-3 most folks don't raise much but the nuts at my stakes
@Nosirt Жыл бұрын
The first guy is talking about a trap block bet, the second guy is talking about an actual block bet. Block bet= bet, fold to raise. Trap bet= bet to induce raise, call.
@michaelholland7738 Жыл бұрын
@@davidgraney3413 There aren't many games bigger than $1/3 in the ARK/La/Miss area where I mostly play, so very good players have little choice but to play the $1/3. I don't think low stakes games in the south are much like those in other areas. $1/3 plays more like a $2/5 with typical opens of $15-$25 and the good experienced players make it tougher than most low stakes.

You're all over the place even explaining in this video. "This is Vegas on a Friday night so he can have anything" pay him off on a board where A10 became a bluff catcher at best. Immediately after u state, "Vegas games are notoriously nitty so if u add pressure they fold lol." You sir are the reason poker is alive and well. Ty for being you 😆

GREAT Vlog! Coming from the Northeast, and playing in poker rooms in Connecticut and Massachusetts, I, too found that the Vegas game was very “nitty” in relation to what I was used to. Found myself having a really dial back raise frequency and size to get action.

Hey Lexo. Great vlog per usual. I thought you had a good read on the situation with the AK but as I watched it play out I was thinking I would shove the river. He's never checking back the turn with a better hand than AK there, unless it's specifically KdQd. A shove from you will get called by an Ace or an extremely ambitious 2nd pair (like KK) a greater % of the time than you will run into a better hand. Personally don't think I could ever fold the river as played by villain.

Lex, on the AK hand- I would have bet small to try and get him to raise. I think he place you on a big A after the called flop raise. By doing so he would try and raise you off it as he tried on the flop. Great content been a subscriber for awhile now.

I think you made the right decision on the river in the AK hand. He is not calling a big river bet with anything that you can beat. He probably would hero fold KK or even AQ. On the other hand he may bet as a bluff. It does feel like you have the best hand after he checks on the turn unless he specifically has KdQd and hit the hidden nuts on the turn. Given your analysis the best way to maximize is to let him bluff on the river.

My favourite vlog, Lex. I would also bet about 25-33% with AK, so there is room for a bluff-raise or a call with a worser hand.
@paulmayer8654 Жыл бұрын
That’s a tough spot though because with the way that hand played, even though it really seems like he has the best hand, there aren’t many combos he’s beating that are going to call. He’s probably more likely to lose if the guy calls. On the other hand, it’s more likely for the other guy to bluff after a check than to raise on a bluff. It’s hard to gauge the table from this blog because he wasn’t ever getting called OR raised on the river 😂

AK hand: I check the river as well. Give him a chance to bluff off. Also it’s easier to pick off a single bet bluff then a jam over the top of a thin value bet bluff. What does he call with there that you beat other than AQ. Just my thoughts.

Free as in $5 dollar tips but it felt free after paying strip prices. I was tiping dealers even when i wasnt winning. I was fucked up.

@supersmoo7377 Жыл бұрын
On the AK hand, being OOP on the river I would have bet 1/3 pot.. Because the snap raise on the flop is usually indicative of non-nutted hands; let's say 80% of the time it's non-nutted. Then, when opponent checks back the turn, he likely wouldn't do that with AT, AJ, JJ, or 77 since there are so many draws out there - perhaps with KQ, but you have a blocker for that. If you bet 1/3 pot on the river, he might've even raised with the straight blocker, but you would've HAD to call with your straight blocker also. edit: you could've bet 1/4 on the river also, as a block bet. 1/3 pot is similar, but more hands in his range will call your 1/4.

Your AK v "KK" hand, I think what you did was fine if you can call off the stack. Deeper stacks might want to bluff and it would be a tough call. Leading out small would be my thinking to get weak hands to overcall.

I think checking the river with AK is perfect, you’re the pro but I’ve played for a long time and I think it is very thin value the way the hand was played with all the raising each player is showing a lot of strength. If you bet the river and he goes all in you put yourself in a tough spot bc it’s either a bluff or he has you. It can go either way but as a pro what do you think is the best ev when betting for value now that you look back at it

I’d honestly check with a pair of A’s. The way the hand went, like you said he could’ve been on a pair of J’s and made Trips or AJ for two pair. And only slowed down because maybe he put you Trip on A’s. In short anything that Calls a big River bet Probly had you beat and Probly not worth it to find out in a already big pot. But what do I know
@chrisharris9710 Жыл бұрын
Alright, now I’m curious, you said on the A10 os hand that you lost $700 and chalked it up to “usually playing bigger games”, but at the start of the video you said you were going to try to play bigger in Vegas and that was justified by playing a 10/20 game…. So, when you said you usually play bigger did you mean bigger than 5/10 yet smaller than 10/20? Or did you mean you usually play deeper in a 5/10?

I believe checking to induce a bluff in that AK hand is the right play. You're losing to AJ, A10, pocket jacks, pocket 10s, and will only get called by AQ. Well played imho
