@@sewventures6154 Um, I think it was apart of Death's cloak that he cut off and gave to the 3rd brother so he could never be seen by Death the the Beedle the Bard stories. It never explicitly states what the cloak was made from, only that it was passed down through Harry's Father's family line to him.

Ok so high quality invisibility cloaks are made out of woven demiguise hair, so I guess if you spin demiguise hair into a thread that would be what you would repair the cloak with. Cheaper cloaks are regular cloaks + disillusionment charm, so if you put that charm onto a regular thread you might be good as well. Note that Harry's cloak is of unknown material due to being a deathly hollow.

So love that story. The book is excellent so if you have only seen the film give it a go. Not knocking the film - mmmm Richard Armitage. I make the film compulsory viewing when we do the Industrial Revolution for history at school. The kids crack up about the side burns on the men, how people didn't really touch before they were married and so many other things. It is a great story written by an amazing woman Elizabeth Gaskell.

hi all, so glad you dropped another team-up vid! thanks for all your amazing research and myth-busting, I've learned so much about garment construction AND history. The other day I was watching this show set in 1717*, and there was this neat bit of characterization through costuming that I'd never have noticed without your kickass channels - someone rocks up to party in an entirely purple outfit....in 1717....and my jaw dropped when I remembered aniline dyes weren't invented until 100 years+ later. I'm not sure how accurate the shade is to the period, but it's not mauve and never would've been allowed under the sumptuary laws of a few centuries prior, which actually deepens a lot of the show's themes. all in all, it was a fun scene in a fun show made even more delightful for having learned so much about fashion history through your wonderful channels. thank you for sharing your knowledge! *Our Flag Means Death, s1ep5 if you're interested. it's a really fun show, in any case.

Being of a certain state of mind (I feel cranky right now), beyond the late Princess Diana's famous black dress, I would say any portrait of any Queen wearing a formal gown was a revenge dress. Most historical matches were between two people not exactly enamored with each other. And the best revenge is not only dressing well, but billing the SO for the outfit, jewels and shoes.

Oh, mah, gooooooodneess. I kind of want to see this be an annual thing, and Drunk Historical Fashion needs to be a search term. It's even fun when there's a non-drinker trying to keep up with the conversation while sober.🤪

I am going to miss watching you three collaborate and be weird together like this. I mean, I’m sure it will still happen but it won’t be as frequent. You three are so fun to watch and learn from, I love it.

Cracks me up how quiet Nicole was in the first video, and ALL THE OPINIONS come out in this one, clearly explained and with expertise, of course.

You three are soo awwdorable and funny. If I need cheering up or just plain distraction from the chaos of the world I watch one or more of your videos. You three make a wonderful comedy trio the likes off which no one has ever really seen. Thank you for sharing with all of us. We need your knowledge and humour.

Recently starting bingeing both your and Nicole’s videos after rediscovering you both with the Safiya collaboration… I had subbed to this channel a few years ago when I started sewing again along with Bernadette’s channel and then I fell into having to learn to create my own soap and so fell down that rabbit hole for a few months/years. I absolutely love watching the semi-drunk stitching of the gonzo gloves which also gives me a time frame for the filming of this video and a need for more of these videos!

My answer for the invisibility cloak question: Doesn't matter what kind- but you have to do any sewing and mending from the inside because the invisibility cloak renders whatever is under/inside of it invisible. Make sure your stitch on the outside is miniscule. Alternatively, you could pull some of the warp or weft threads from the hem and use those!

Oh my gosh, I would watch hours of this! I'm usually the person going on rants about fashion and fashion history while my friends' eyes glaze over, and it's so good to see others doing the same - with friends to rant with! When drunk, my rants are usually about human anatomy and sometimes natural science in general. I'm not popular at parties.

"Ask me how I know" in response to the sleeves. That's an elder millennial who lived through some shit right there 😂😂😂 Mother, why did you put me in an Easter dress with Spanx and shoulder pads and... WHY ? If anyone asks why I like 18th century clothes it's because I'll never have to wear poly satin and lace ever again. 😂😂

The amount I just "yaaaaassss'ed" through the whole section about the 1790's being just the best because I am so freaking here for the 1790's!! It's so my jam and I just fully lean into the soft and rounded silhouette as a plus size costumer because my body is already soft and rounded and I can celebrate that ☺️
