About the records story, I think the guy was sent by someone who works reselling records, probably someone who has a lot of stock and is really busy. So the guy buying doesn't know much about music, he was just sent with the instructions of "buy all the records and come back".

Please let Rebecca know I lost my sense of smell as well but I have been training myself to smell again with essential oils. I googled it and it is definitely helping! And my first symptoms were low grade fever and confusion/delirium.

Same problem with lack of inpatient services in Oregon, in fact there is a law suit against (I think) the state, or some relevant state agency, over it. Also bad situation in California. You are not alone.

It's also about HOW they corrected them. They were rude and sarcastic. You can do that in a neutral way.

I hope you remember that not all of our first language is English. :) I wouldn't want to feel self-conscious when commenting here. Just a little friendly critique. 💛

Yep, I'm Italian and I would feel horrible if dr Honda questioned my academic achievements because of a grammar mistake (which is insensitive towards native speakers as well)
@tigershenanigans68782 жыл бұрын
When someone corrected my spelling I answered that english is not my first language and that I typed it without help from Google 🤣🤣🤣🤣 They stoped with harrasement after that.

Yup, agree with this. I understand judging grammer mistakes as a professor for your students but on the internet it feels a bit silly. I also have dyslexia so I have sort of made peace with the fact that I will probably always sound a bit less intelligent over text, but I do get self conscious about it at times. And it's just not an accurate assessment as there can be many reasons why someone makes a grammer mistake
@mikehardball63522 жыл бұрын
@@sugaredyoongi I agree with this. Also, something I would like to see covered more on this podcast is disability topics.

Someone told me the English language like any language evolves. Do an “incorrect” grammar could be used so much it becomes the “correct” grammar. Don’t sweat it, but knowing how technical academia is, no surprise Dr H would notice grammar

@@saram8139 I really like him a lot. Everyone's human though and has blindspots. His judgement caught me off guard, especially since he always says the me and him thing. It has always surprised me that he says that and he's so educated but oh well!

Just because you have a degree doesn’t mean that you don’t struggle with grammar or spelling. That gave me the biggest ick. Also, Dr. Hondo you use the word “but”incorrectly all the time!!! Ngating what your previous we have meant.
@d.on.in.a2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree on the grammar thing, it sounded like he was invalidating their degree or doubting their intelligence.
@lucylohan88942 жыл бұрын
@@d.on.in.a Yes!! agree 👏🏻 Also, if he is focusing so far to on how to “properly” correct somebody so that you don’t offend them are you actually even paying attention to what they are saying or are you just worried about correcting someone.

English is my second language and grammar being wrong gives ME "the ick". He's a professor. He's supposed to correct stuff.
@lucylohan88942 жыл бұрын
@@Lady-Mara it’s his attitude about it that gives me the ick. Or better yet to put ones self on a pedestal as if he doesn’t mispronounce or use thing incorrectly that annoys me. Yeah he’s a professor but he’s also a therapist and it’s not professional to make people feel litter or dumb.
@Lady-Mara2 жыл бұрын
@@lucylohan8894 there's a difference between judging and correcting/instructing. Although thinking about it more, there could be a divide with how things used to be taught vs how they are taught now.
