X-Men is a home console video game produced by Sega for Mega Drive/Genesis in 1993, based on the adventures of the Marvel Comics superhero team, the X-Men. One or two players can play as any of four pre-chosen X-Men. X-Men was released in 1993 was followed up by X-Men 2: Clone Wars.

Played the hell out of this game as a kid, and yes I beat Magneto at the end! The trick for me was to learn which characters worked best at each level. Level 1 Gambit, Level 2 Cyclops then switch half way to Nightcrawler, Level 3 Gambit then switch to Nightcrawler at the end (teleportation came in handy), Level 4 Gambit then switch to Wolverine, Level 5 Cyclops then switch to Wolverine, Final Level Gambit or Cyclops then switch to Nightcrawler at the end. Nightcrawlers bamfs seemed to hurt Magneto faster.

Cherokee Fit You have to hit reset on your console to disable a bomb and progress through the story.

That part kept killing me too! And it was my own fear that kept me from figuring the solution out on my own! Mashing the Reset button on 99.9% of Sega Genesis games: You completely reset your game and lose all your progress. Mashing the Reset button on X-Men, at the end of Mojo's stage: A bunch of binary scrolls up, the Danger Room computer reboots and you don't lose your game. It blew my mind too!

As a child I got beat by dad for trying to play this game late night. The damn intro woke everyone up. I learned the mojo world reset from frustration and hit the reset button. I ended up learning tricks of the levels from the GamePro magazine.

The part after beating Mojo where he destroys the computer and then the screen goes black and then binary code starts coming down. You had to physically reset the Genisis make the screen go black and proceed. Of course there is nothing th o indicate this in the game. Back then you had to read a guide magazine or hear it from someone else. Frustrating but genius.

Mojo's stage is what kept doing me in. I couldn't reset the Danger Room computer, so time always ran out and all of my X-Men died! I had to grab a hint book to figure out that you beat the stage by pressing the _actual Reset button_ (which normally completely restarts your game) on the Sega Genesis! I thought of that Reset button on my own a few times, but I never pressed Reset because I was afraid of completely scrubbing my game! Whoever came up with Mojo's stage was an evil, sadistic mastermind! >_

I remember a great feeling of accomplishment when I beat this game. Having to start all over each game was the frustrating part rather than starting out on the level you left off at. I remember using Cyclop's blasts a lot more than you did though. What's with the no love for Wolverine? I recall him being really good with his healing factor. He especially excelled in the Sentinels board. I remember jumping across the chasms and then using the dive move he had to slice through the turrets.

Wolverine's jump is the shortest of the group, the big reason I never used him. And Nightcrawler's jump kick crosses chasms more easily

The '95 X-Men games were the best. Not so much so on Sega compared to SNES (in my opinion). Couldn't get past the Apocalypse; by then, I was out of Special Characters coming in on screen and used up my favorite character to the brink of death and no Special Meter. But I'll say: I would've been motivated if 20:53 appeared early... and more often. Call me whatever, butt that looks beautiful! 😉
