This is such a great video. It shows Celestia not as the princess she is, but as a pony that has flaws like every one else. It's very reassuring to see her in a state of vulnerability when she brings up her past. Just because Celestia is the ruler of Equestria doesn't mean that she is kind of haunted by the shadows of her past choices. They weigh heavily on her conscience, and makes her question certain choices she has made during her life. Of all the patients that Dr. Wolf has "treated", I think Celestia is the pony with the most, for lack of a better word, baggage that she needs to get off her chest. I am surprised it took her this long to confide in someone enough and release some of her burdens. I think this video is a great addition to an already great series and am looking forward to who else Dr. Wolf helps.

This is amazing. Speaking success or failure, it's one day at a time. My dad was an engineer for over 30 years and was realistic. When asked about success or failure during a difficult project, his often sardonic comment was' nothing blew up today' Fame is isolating and that's why there are so many messed up celebs.

I absolutely loved this therapy session with Princess Celestia. One of the words that I noticed was used was the word "seem." We say this a lot to others, don't we? We say "You seem okay" or "You seem to be happy." This word is just an assumption. Just because someone looks okay, doesn't mean that they are. You highlighted this so brilliantly Dr. Wolf. One may appear to be okay on the outside, but could really be suffering on the inside. We never know what someone is truly feeling unless we step into their shoes. Absolutely amazing episode.

Very inspiring AMWDW episode as always. Dr. Wolf God bless you for how you help me and so many others deal with our life problems and how to overcome them. Here’s looking forward to a Discord or Sunset Shimmer episode somewhere down the line someday. ;-)
@chesskinge46486 жыл бұрын
I think it would be interesting to do a Sunset Shimmer visit given that she only comes to Equestria when asked even though she can come visit anytime. I suspect she likes being human and might harbor guilt over this. Also I would like to see a therapy visit for Spike the dog. He went from a normal non sentient dog to a sentient being undergoing some physical changes as well like his vocal cords and tongue to speak human. He most likely can not perceive other canines the same way anymore but is not physically human though he now thinks closer to one. He must feel so alone.
@chesskinge46486 жыл бұрын
I would also like to add that for Sunset, having bare skin exposed her to new ways to feel emotions as she does not have fur blocking certain sensations that we as humans take for granted. There is a great scene in the movie Equilibrium where the main character now off his his emotions suppression drugs feels the sun on his face. It invokes a strong emotional response from him. I can just imagine what feeling the sun's gentle heat or the lite mist of the rain must have been like for Sunset after she was redeemed. It could make for an interesting description to Dr. Wolf as he has fur. I really hope you go for this discussion Dr. Wolf. Also Sunset would have gone from heating cycles to having intimate thoughts far more often. There is so much that defines the human condition and thus makes a great plot device to explore this train of thought.

"One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" When oogway said this, I didn't understand it at first, but, now I kinda do, well, at least, this is what it means to me, "If you rush to avoid a problem, that problem will happen sooner than you think" I've learned the hard way that if you try to make certain a mistake never happens, you'll make more of em. If you dont make mistakes, you dont learn, if you dont learn, you wont grow stronger, and if that happens, then you'll make the same mistakes over and over again, and you wont ever change or fix the issue.

The more you think you know; the more you realize you do not know. The more you think you can do; the more you realize you cannot do. The fact is, no matter how powerful we may think we are; we will realize just how powerless we are. Life does not have a "Fits-all-answer". In the end all we can do is the best we can do; so why ask ourselves to do more as long as we do our best?

Wonderful job, both of you and I am so happy to see this episode, and Celestia's lessons are things I'm still struggling with (the whole not dwelling on past mistakes and being able to recognize when I make new ones). But the voice acting really drove home the emotions that she dealt with and is dealing with still. On another note, there was a video I saw that talked about what happened during those years leading up to the first nightmare moon incident, in a series of videos called "A Condensed History of Equestria" and the person behind it all did a fantastic job on coming up with a very plausible sounding set of circumstances, and if it weren't immediately obvious you might imagine they were talking about circumstances on our planet from the bygone age of knights and kings and such. I hope that you, DRWolf, have much success in your future commissions and keeps your practice going strong for many years to come.

This was. Great piece and one I needed to hear. I have always felt like my past mistakes always defined who I am and become an anchor hindering me from becoming the person God made me to be. But rather let those mistakes weigh me down and the illusion of perfection. My mistakes are lessons to learn from and to become a better person and by leaning less on my need for perfection and more on God's mercy because of my imperfection. Keep helping others Doctor and may you be a blessing to others in their time of need.

A very touching and inspirational video, as per usual with AMWDW. This gives me plenty to think about. However, there are a couple lines that especially caught my attention. "I believe I have done well with Twilight and her friends, but I must admit it hasn't been that way with everyone. I don't always succeed in my efforts to help others." Dr. Wolf, I get the impression that you had your "Reflections During Troubled Times" video, and the events surrounding it, in mind when you wrote this script. It was a huge blunder, but I was one of those who knew you meant well, and I know I'm not alone on this. You have loyal fans that understand you make mistakes sometimes. So long as you learn from them and prevent them from bringing you down, then things can only get better from there.

Fun as that concept may be, before meaningful aid can be rendered one must first be willing to acknowledge that such help is needed. even if only internally. Nearly all of the emotional growth we have seen has come at the cost of deep emotional crisis; be it the potential loss of a new friendship, being used then discarded, or a wounded ego in the form of "loosers" pitying him. Sage words alone may give Discord something to ponder, but to take it in and have a lasting effect he must be brought to the point of seeing the fault in himself first.

Shinning Armor: His difficulty with feeling like a failure and not like a knight in shinning armor - manipulated to disown his own sister at his wedding, being unable to save Crystal Empire without outside help, being useless during Tirek's reign, becoming a father, being ponynapped alongside his family by Chrysalis, being oblivious to Storm King Invasion (his wife turned to stone and his sister and friends being hunted down), etc. Cadance: Her fear of not being emotionally strong: leaving her loving adopted Earth Pony family for a rich princess lifestyle, fears of wedding invasion and aftermath via guilt-by-manipulation, fear of running a kingdom, fear of not being taken seriously as the other princesses, fear of failing as a mother, etc. Twilight Velvet and Night Light: feeling secondary to Princess Celestia as a parental role model for their daughter Twilight Sparkle. Wonderbolts and Royal Guards: Fear of being considered a joke as military force for Equestria: failure to stop multiple villains, enslaved within mere minutes of said villains, inside politics and backstabbing (Equestria Games and Wind Rider), and relying on Mane 6 (civilians) to do their job as they are unable to accomplish much. Big MacIntosh: Fear of talking, rumors that he hates being an Earth Pony and wishes he could use magic, his relationship with both Cherilee and Sugar Belle, etc. Chancellor Neighsay: His trust issues with other races ("They claim to be friends yet when we were invaded they didn't lift a claw or fin to help") Bellatrix Lulamoon aka Trixie: Fear of letting ego turning her back into the evil pony she used to be and losing all of the progress she has made over the years. Fizzlepop Berrytwist aka Tempest Shadow: Guilt of treasonous crimes, dealing with angry ponies demanding justice ... even death threats ... alongside her anger issues that have ruined her life, as well as many others. Earth Pony: feeling less loved of the four types of ponies (Earth, Unicorn, Pegasus, Allicorn) or feeling that magic is evil and magic villains - mainly unicorns - get off scot-free with their crimes and feeling that their justice is abandoned by the princesses in favor of using said villain for greater good.

Discord would be impratical. As somone else said, he would have to realise he would need help first. Aside from that, how would the script writter make it so that discord could discuss himself being improved without rejecting his own chaos? We've seen what happens there, in the episode Discordant Harmony. If anything, the only subjects they could cover is Discordant's guilt over causing harm (which is unlikly), His feelings for fluttershy as a friend (No Shipping). And how he feels he's getting along with other people such as Celestia and the Mane 6. All Subjects i would imagine would be difficult for the script writter/s to do.

Tempest is an excellent contender. As well as her past crimes and the forgiveness or lack thereof she currently experiences, she could have ongoing uncertainty over her horn and self-doubt due to having been naive enough to trust the Storm King.

( Sorry i've missed this video and late for the late comment due to personal issue ) I have so many mind blown that i too have the same thougth of how princess celestia suffer and espcialy i have that some thougth that mistakes are inevitable as these mistakes can help you learn to be fair balance. Now i feel like this series would be a good education for maybe any ages to watch and understand about real life circumstances or personal issue or to know deeply about these characters. I see the animation and artwork is improved and the script is quite rich for something more than just a theory but to understanding deeply about princess celestia's feelings of mistakes, her doubts and her role as a ruler as well. So much continuity that i really enjoy and also i had this thougth hanging for decades that everyone has a past mistake even to a succesful person as mistakes are indeed inevitable. It's good that i get to watch this video it is entertaining and well done with voicing. Have a good year in 2018 to you Drwolf and to everyone who worked hard on this project👏👏👍🤠

The voice acting and art is so inspiring and wonderful!^^ The script is so well-written, it felt like it was an episode, or a natural conversation. Loved it! Edit: ... I can't help but wonder more about... the Doctor's first name.
