A little food for thought here, Cozy Glow's not wrong. One reason or another we make friends because we desire something. A psychological sense of companionship, a necessary accomplice to help out in whatever desired plan, or just someone to compete against in bowling and laugh at your dad jokes over pretzels and beer in the ally's bar. It's not always as selfish but there's always a catch somewhere if you think about it.

So are we just going to look passed that scene in Frenemies when they all show their thoughts on actually being good? Tirek literally said "all those years stealing power from ponies . . ." He shows that he views his villainy as a waste of time. Chrysalis says "having friends who will be there for you is pleasing." This is something a mentor can definitely build on. Cozy's statement was the most redeemable when she said "when we helped each other, it felt better somehow." She even said "when you use your power to help others-." Cozy just said that she felt better if she were helping others instead of using it for selfish reasons. Are people really going to pretend this scene never happened?

Neither Discord nor Dr.Wolf are omniscient. -> Discord (as Fake!Grogar) was unaware that they actually obtained the real Bewitching Bell, so it is clear that he was not observing them remotely either. If something specific it is not referenced by one of the 3 villains on porpouse (like how Cozy Glow did about Tirek´s "Grangran"); or actively avoided through lies & concealment [triggering the "TV record" showing their real thoughts], then it will simply be UNKNOWN by Discord (he can not "read the scripts" of the the FiM episodes like Pinkie Pie). -> This is likely the main reason Dr.Wolf is here, as his "questions" may trigger the evil trio into thinking more deeply about things they do not want to even consider.

This applies even more to Cozy. At least with Tirek and Chrysalis we get a little bit of a backstory, but with Cozy they gave us absolutely nothing. She’s just portrayed as a crazy manipulative pony, nothing about her past, nothing about her parents or living conditions considering she is a child. The whole reason they made her a villain was just to subvert expectations and shock the audience, but it just feels really lazy to me.

It's just a matter of parents realizing this and choosing to enable that behavior or disciplining them. I have a theory concerning her behavior. I believe that unintentionally spoiled by her parents and things got so bad, they sent her to Twilights school. We got a ton of new young ponies when that season released, so it would make sense. As for why they were never mentioned after her arrest, I'm not sure. Perhaps they cut their losses.

Wow, I actually really love this dynamic/connection Doctor Wolf has with Tirek. Especially when it comes to discussing brotherly relationships. I honestly don’t think Tirek completely hates him. Even though, deep down in his hidden heart, he does appreciate his help. I always admire the Doc for having such a wise and optimistic attitude, even towards Tirek, it’s so admirable.

Okay. So we get to know them better now. So first off, Chrisalys i can say she has her reasons after all she is a queen and like a mother to her subjects and just like she said to Starlight Glimmer "You don't know what it takes to be their queen" so that's reasonable, her subjects are starving and Chrisalys wants to feed them and become a good leader to changelings (Not that i'm saying Ponynapping is good but yeah) She's a hardworking leader. Plus i loved her Reaction as she threw out Mean twilight log or "Splinter" as if she was a mother to it. Second is Tirek, so he is the under appreciated son that his father expects so much and and expects to be the heir to the throne and be king but Tirek wants to be appreciated by showing his talent of magic so that's probably why they came to the early Equestria for magic hunting but then Scorpan learned the ways of friendship and Tirek was banished to Tartarus left thinking his brother sold him out to the princesses. I loved that part when Scorpan said i was having tea time with the breezies (Reference to Scorpan learning about friendship) So that's is "Continuity!" Silverquill would be so proud and that Dr. Wolf got a little emotional to their reunion hug i felt that too. And lastly Cozy Glow. She doesn't have that many reasons why she's this way and the only way i think she is going this down path to evilness is that she is the kid who is always left out and never get what she wants and thats reasonable (Not the trying to conquer the whole Equestria, no) She wants attention so she used her adorable face to get what she wants. That's it! There's still so much i want to say but my fingers are starting to cramp while typing but uhh yeah so i still want to see them get along and sort tjings out those three So yeah Thanks if you took your time reading this have a good night or day!

Those all sound pretty likely reasons why they ended up evil in the first place. Chrisalys especially since there might have been a time where she was more of a fair and reasonable ruler at one point but her frustrations of trying to keep it together was too much and made her go off the deep end big time.

The most interesting bits we got from this (unnofficial, fanfic) "story" is that: . Cozy Glow is a single child with no cousins (she is not an orphan, or the only one in an orphanage). . Chrysalis had lost some/all of her brood_siblings after living alongside them throughout her "childhood". -> While Cozy was making a ridicule of the reunion of Tirek & Scorpan, Chrysalis was ABLE to put herself in that same position (while not necesary "wishing" it for herself too, yet still understanding how it would feel).

A few issues irked me with these villains. First off, we DESPERATELY needed a backstory for Cozy Glow, and didn't get one. How, in the heck did a young, child, pegasus, get into a position where she manages to manipulate and fleece her way into world conquest!?! This is a story that NEEDED to be told, but we didn't get it. It irked me that we had this child, who was just thrown in Equestria's worst prison in solitary confinement, and then was turned to stone, which is apparently a worse punishment than Tartarus solitary. Kids who break the law aren't usually tossed in maximum security prison under 24-7 lockdown. This is a back-story that we NEEDED to hear but we never got. Second, I have a HUGE issue with Discord. He caused the whole problem with the villains in the first place. He deserves SOME type of punishment as well, but he got off completely free, most likely because he was a fan favorite and he can do no wrong. He REALLY deserved punishment. Simple apology just isn't good enough for the disruption and destruction that he indirectly caused. No. He DOESN'T get a pass for all this. So I had some very LARGE issues with the ending of MLP.

Cozy Glow is only a tough case because Wolf didn't spend much time on her at all. On the surface, she looks like a power hungry filly, but if Wolf looks closer, he can bring up how genuine Cozy was being in Frenemies when she said that it felt better to help others. If Wolf brings moments like those up and mentions how she can indeed make her dream a reality, she can reform (if the writers controlling her are actually realistic in their portrayal anyway).

Pretty much the ending to the Steven Universe Movie, where Spinel wants to help, but feels like she doesn’t have a proper place on earth she can call her own.

I always knew Tirek would be the first to show reformation signs. The obvious tool fanfic writers use for him is a reunion with Scorpan. However, it surprised me that Chrysalis went second to show hers. I pretty much saw her as a lost cause unlike Tirek and Cozy.

I think what we have here is a bad case of: Vanity (chrysalis) greed (tirek) and envy ( cosy glow). Just my own theories as not very much outside of tirek was explicitly stated: Vanity is defined by an excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements. I think chrysalis was molded by her position of queen to see everything around her hive as just a means to an end. She prides herself in her appearance as befitting of being a shapeshifting creature. Over time, the demands of running a hive took their toll and she saw life in a transactional way. She'd lure ponies, date them, get their love and take it. It's only food after all, that was the only thing she likely saw as worthwhile. Pony lives or other non changeling ones were not worth the effort unless food was involved. This likely is the reason why she views friendship and even romance as nothing. She only seeks to survive and using/ obsessing over her changeling queenliness is the only real drive I think she has (besides getting revenge on those who took away her queen title, likely triggering her vannity big time). Tirek definitely has family issues, which drove him to see his magic as futile unless he gains enough strength to be seen as worthy. That leads to hive getting greedy, possibly gluttonous as with all the magic of equestria, then what? Tirek likely just does this to want to feel powerful and in control, so dominating others is a way to escape his perceived uselessness and ease the regrets at losing his family Cosy glow is actually a bit easier to crack down: in a world where six every day mares gain cosmic level reality altering magical powers by being freinds. Little kids can be impressionable and can often times get the wrong message unless someone, such as a good role model, points them into the right direction. I don't think cosy has a good role model, not even a family. We do not see her family or even hear a reference to one. She could be (just like tirek) seeing herself as powerless and growing up in an era where friendship could lead to possible super powers and admiration from almost everyone, why couldn't she give a crack at it? She was jealous over what they had and she didn't and CRAVED IT!! Just like chrysalis, she views friendship as transactional. doing or saying a nice thing here or there and boom! she gets whatever power she craves. Being pen pals with tirek likely was the tipping point that drove her to becoming an evil mastermind, but without any visable outside assistance besides the school, she would have been corrupted at some point or another. TLDR; these villains, although inescapably evil, likely had some world or personal altering event(s) that led to them becoming the monsters they are now. The situations they were in were outside their controls and they chose the wrong response to handle those situations, leading to warped perceptions on how equestria works and how friendship is useless unless it is used for one;'s personal gain, which is what I personally think sums up the three in a nutshell

I definitely think Cozy Glow's behavior is a consequence of how she was treated in the past. Everyone she knew (including likely her parents, who are nowhere to be seen in canon and might well be dead) has either abandoned her or betrayed her at some point, so she has convinced herself acting in the same manner is the only way to "get ahead in life".

Maybe her thirst for power originated from Tirek escaping Tartarus. She saw his capabilities and said, "I wanna be just like that!" Basically, Cozy saw it as a means to have the kingdom on a silver platter and conquer anyone who's ever wronged her. Cozy forgot one thing, "With great power comes great responsibility." So yeah, she's a younger version of Scar. Awesome, right?
