If you were going to plant a tree line on a new farm, or thin out trees in an existing farm, what are the pros and cons of a treeline in a N-S orientation vs an E-W orientation? Thanks.

If you’re thinning or planting you’re probably going to end up with even spacing both directions but if I was picking one or the other N-S orientation is probably better for getting even sunlight the farther north you go and more importantly for throwing shade in the summer months.
