The hut was PM Williams' hut which was RM's father and up until around 30 years ago the General Manager of the Women's Prison lived in it. Also the main huge quarry was behind the jail right up to the wall. It was filled in during the prison upgrades in the 80's.

You can get to RM Williams old property. There is a trail opposite the timber walkway that goes behind the women’s prison and at the end of the prison is the property. It is on prison grounds but you can actually get onto the property and up to the buildings and see what is left of the garden walls etc, it’s is probably the best part of the walk to see this old property. I would also recommend when you were on the trail opposite the magazine hut near the pump station that you should continue a little further and on your left is a inclined trail that leads to stockade park. Highly recommend to see it as the grounds are beautiful, there is a waterfall there also, for me the RM Williams property and Stockade Park are the two best bits of that trail and worth seeing.

I was wondering how to get to it. Would have been awesome to have gone to see it. We just assumed we weren't allowed to. We may have to revisit! We were aware of the gardens and were going to go back on a separate occasion to visit. Sadly, the lock down hit, and it fell by the wayside. You remind me though, we should go and have a look xx

@@thecrazyaunts You can pretty much drive up to the property from the Walkley Heights housing estate near Grand Junction Road and that cottage you saw is near the boundary, I prefer to use the trail behind the prison as you get to see how big the property was and there are still garden walls along the route. Like I said it’s on prison land but you can sneak up to the cottage, it is boarded up though. This time of the year is a good time for the walk as the creek is flowing and if you go after rains then it flows quite well, summer time you might see the odd brown snake. Stockade Park is worth seeing and you can drive to it from O’briens road, unfortunately at the moment they have ripped up the waterfall and are redoing it but it’s a very nice place to walk around and take in the gardens
