Dry Hatching Quail in the Nurture Right 360!

Dry Hatching or Dry Incubating is a method of hatching out eggs where you add little to no water during the incubation period. Some dry hatch methods are dry only up until lockdown and then you add water, but I'm trying a true dry incubation by adding no water at all during the incubating and hatching period. Doing this method with quail, I got an 85% hatch rate which is really good and much better than I expected!
I only hatched 2 of my 6 chicken eggs but many of them didn't develop.

I plan on doing another batch here in a few weeks and will dry hatch those too. Whether or not it's 100% better than regular incubation can be debated but since I got 85% hatch rate it's at least a legitimate way to incubate. Good luck!

Trying to go for first dry hatch here in CO. Cannot for the life of me find humidity levels for dry hatch as ppl have said it isn’t 0% (d:0-15) & (d:16-18) in the dome. Trying to get a hatch rate above 8/25. Thx and awesome vid.

They are so adorable 🥰 I have a heating plate for the chicks when they arrive, but it doesn’t have the digital temp feature that allows me to dial in the temp I want for them, it goes up to the mid 100s will that hurt or kill them? The one I got has a red cone like thing to place on top of the heat plate so the chicks can get on top of it and poop

As long as they have room to get out from the plate they should be ok! If it's possible I try to adjust my plates so the front sits a little higher than the back so they can gradually move to the back of the plate if they need to get warmer

So you don’t tell us how to dry incubate. What temp? How many days till lockdown etc

Sorry for the late response, I incubated them just like I normally would. 99.5 degrees, 18 days, lockdown on 16

I heat with wood so room temperature isnt stable. Do you think the 360 would keep a consistant temperature? My room temp varies between 45 and 70. Considered a heating pad but new ones turn off automaticly after a few hours.
