Dry Incubation part 3 (hatch day)

We hatched out 16 of 42 eggs now I'm trying to find out what went wrong.

This was so helpful to me. I just put two groups of eggs in the incubator. Both are groups I purchased but I hope to incubate my own in the future. Next time you have a power outage, wrap the incubator is blankets and/or towels to help hold in your temp.

Thats a good idea however at hatching time this could suffocate them so just keep an eye on that.

A hot water bottle with a few blankets will hold heat for a long time. If you are set up with a wood stove you can heat water and fill big pop bottles and use them to keep the eggs warm.

I tryed dry hatch 2 hatched fine 3 had the membrain shrink wrapped on the chicks I took the shell off them and took about 4 hours getting them out of the shrink wrap But all are doing fine

I had a broody hen for a while and let her alone (she was feisty)😂 but she quit.. I saved 3 eggs without cracks and forgot about them until the end of the day (busy days) still put them back in my incubator and candled them last night and they are still progressing and alive I found out so I don't know if losing power is such a contributor... Bc mine where cold when I found them (left them at first to see if the hen would return, she didn't) moved them inside, forgot what I was doing for a while and still saw movement so I put them back in and now they've grown and look amazing.. I also dry hatch bc wet is a nightmare and never have good results on fertilization or hatching...

The simplest solution to the potential power outage problem might be a Buddy Heater. Safe indoors. The small one is good for a small room. I have it on hand in case I need it in an outage to try to get clean in a bathroom.

Did you add water at all ? It seems that I have seen/heard that one fills the watering tray completely at lockdown (day 18). Thanks! I really enjoyed the 3-part dry incubation series.

The last 3 times I've hatched eggs I've had a power outage during the last 10 days. It's only been for a few hours but it definitely hurts the hatch rate.

How can you tell if it’s a rooster or not by the wings?

I found a quail egg and I’m not sure if it’s fertile or not. When i do candling, I see something inside, it’s like an orange circle. I showed my friend who raises chickens and they don’t know either

Try setting up your temp. Inside at exactly 39 C on top of the eggs. Humidity should be at 50 to 60 from day 1 to 18 with or without water depending what is your natural Humidity where you live.on day 19 to 21 raise your Humidity 60 to 70 goodluck partner. Mine only in day 2.I'm also using a still air incubator here in Philippines godbless

I have about 6 hens and 5 roosters. Is that a problem? I see that at least 4 roosters are mating with then hens.

Only problem could be the older your Roosters get the more they might want to fight each other

you should have 6-10 hens per rooster or else the roosters will start to fight.

No its not a problem as far as fertility is concerned. But may pose a social problem in your chicken coop.

Considering the short life cycle of these animals do you not think it would be best to breed for hyperthermic resistance? Because surely by doing so you are actually inproving their success rate. Breeding for physical traits has been done already I'm mean christ look at pugs ffs. Maybe do something different. Kmt
