I'm an Irish teetotaler and watch this laughing and also wondering why there's never a sketch about all us dry eejits. Ireland has a higher percentage of non drinkers than the big island next door, yet we're the one everyone thinks are boozers.

When I moved to Ireland for work, I found there was a stark difference between reputation and reality. Huge number of non-drinkers, pubs closing early and the drinkers not drinking all that much or that often. The twelve pubs of Christmas was only thing that stacked up and only fraction made it to last few pubs.

🎶 Weeeeell I woke up this morning 🎶 and realised it's my 3 year fahnniversary! (or close enough). Don't know why the January Blues drew me in, but I'm so glad it did! Would I have got through the last 3 years without FAH? Yeah, sure, probably. But life wouldn't have been as good. FAH have made things a little bit easier, a little less lonely and added heaps more laughter and joy. And gave me the reason I needed to go on some trips! And my brain woke up - I had thoughts and ideas and wrote some stuff, an unexpected bonus. I appreciate the laughing the most. I'd become someone who said 'haha' rather than actually hahaed. Now I'm always hahaing

I spent much of my career as law enforcement in the dry villages of Alaska. You'd be amazed at folks. If Ireland went dry for even a day, you'd see every can of hairspray and every bottle of cologne disappear from the storeshelves in ten minutes😂 not to mention bread yeast and canned fruit

'Dry January' is like other New Years resolutions, like losing weight, doing exercise that lasts about 2 weeks if that long. There are some Irish that don't drink at all for personal or religious reasons (mainly Protestants), and some that do 'Dry Lent' (even on St. Patrick's day).

Reminds me of a university classmate who came up with reasons you couldn't study on any evening of the week. Monday night was out because of Monday Night Football. Tuesday you were too hung over from Monday Night Football. Wednesday is the midweek break. Thursday too hung over from the midweek break. Friday and Saturday are the weekend and no one studies on the weekend. Sunday, resting up for Monday Night Football.
