I come for the playing as much as to hear new pedals. You remind why I like to play.

Great demo! Have to say though, that the super lead was the most apparent winner of this demo😉

Yes, you can't discount the amp that these pedals are aiming to recreate. Thanks :)

Thanks for the informative and in depth demo of the pedal and the great playing. Nice, useful piece of gear with some inventive options.

I’d have to agree! It didn’t sound like an overdrive pedal, it sounded like an amp pushed into overdrive.

Andy great demo as always! What’s your opinion on The Engine v The Bunker by Thorpy?

Good sounding pedal. I like Dry Bell stuff. I have their Vibe pedal. What is the brand of that guitar with the "fish" inlay on the headstock? And, is that a D'Angelico hanging on the wall?
@AndyDemos4 жыл бұрын
The natural finish guitar I’m playing is an Andromeda by Whalehazard. On the wall is the Supro Silverwood. Thanks 👍🏻

Andy, I recentley read interview of yours by guitarist magazine uk and begun wondering about your guitars been used throughout years of reviews! Wouldn't it be nice to do some collection rundown? Just sayin'😅

Classic tones!! I don’t have a tube amp but wonder how well this fit into an amp-less rig such as DSM/Humboldt simplifier....
@winstonsmith82364 жыл бұрын
I just got an Iridium and I’d suggest looking at the Kingsley/Real Tube Preamp choices available. I was trying different $$ boosts and drives and nothing helped inject feel and tone better than my Kingsley. HUGE difference.

A parallel compressor after the gain stage, set with low compression & more dry signal, can really juice up a tubeless rig too.

Will this pedal work good as a preamp for an amp-less setup with a cabinet simulator for direct recording purposes?
@AndyDemos4 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but I’d stick to ‘Boost into Overdrive’ configuration, since you wouldn’t really want to be boosting the input of a cab sim in the same manner as a real amp. Thankfully, the A side is very dynamic and amp-like which makes me think it would work great👍🏻

Yeah, we know what a clean Fender sounds like.
@AndyDemos4 жыл бұрын
_t-d_ I agree but in my experience, players often can’t discern whether the drive is coming from the amp or the pedal. I personally LOVE dirty Marshalls and plan to show more but using a clean amp is a more ‘honest representation’ of how much gain the pedal is putting out or what the EQ is doing etc. Can you imagine the response if I only used the Marshall with a clean boost and someone says, my clean boost isn’t creating ANY distortion on my Roland Jazz Chorus! It’s a balance but my goal is to let the pedals speak for themselves and I’ll pepper it with Marshall and Orange to sweeten the deal! Thanks for the input.

Does it have enough output to directly drive a standard power amp?
@Kathayne6363 жыл бұрын
yes
@PendelSteven3 жыл бұрын
I just want to say I love the term 'foundation', although I still call this 'amp pedals'. But both DryBell and of couse Greer is right: they are not amps. And well, a preamp is more expected to be clean, while a foundation drive, or foundation preamp has its character. Just judging by what I bought in the past, I've always loved these kind of pedals, even though mine were well... The Line6 Über Metal and Boss COSM Fender pedals. Now that we're fully into replacing tubes with FETs, I'm in love with these 'foundation' pedals.

This is a really nice unit RM is probably my fave fuzz from the 60s But not really a Rangemaster not is my Diaz TX Ranger but I run the low mode on the Ranger and add the bite from my Lovepedal CoT HW and I have what's been a staple on my board for a while This Drybell sounds killer though Good stuff 👍 and good playing Andy Sounded best w the RM dimed

Mm, does not sound as impressive as their Unit 67. A bit harsh and fizzy, as if it’s got too much top high end (like so many other overdrives these days).

Not at all. Very tweakable. You can dial in or out any fizzyness or muddines easily. You need to hear it in person.
