Oh no...I’ve been wanting an 1176 on my board for a while (mostly for “that” thing it does for guitars). I knew that if I stalled on the cali76 too long, something interesting would catch my eye. Now I have to know THIS thing exists. Thanks a lot, guys....

I liked the demo, but every pedal that boosts the volume will make the amp sound better. Volume is a deceiving factor. To know what a pedal actually does, is to set the volume at unity. Ofcourse if you demo the booster side, you need to demo the volume boost. But the rangemaster, the eq section and the compresser section should be demo-ed at unity, to know how they alter the sound. As soon as boost the volume, the tubes start working harder, the speakers come to life, and it might trick you in believing that it sounds better. That's how they do it at music stores to sell more. They boost the input signal, and it seems like it's a good pedal. But mostly you are hearing more volume. But then you come home or at a gig, and you start using the pedal within an 'allowed' volume range, and you'll be surprised that the pedal doesn't work as you thought it worked at the store. If I go check out a pedal, I first listen to it at unity volume, to hear what the pedal actually does to your sound. Ofcourse this doesn't count for dedicated boost pedals as the purpose is to boost the signal. But for an eq pedal, a compressor and a treble booster, and even overdrives or distortion pedals, I'll always check them first at unity level. It's the only way to evaluate the tone aspect of the pedal by excluding the possibility of being deveived by volume

Very nice with the Strat indeed but not much improvement with humbuckers unfortunately. Wonder if one could achieve the same thing (or even better?) with EQ + compressor + rangemaster type pedals. What do you think? I'm asking because many of us already have those kind of boxes on our boards and the Unit67 costs more than all those together so... However I see the point of having things simplified while saving pedalboard space if you don't need the flexibility of adjusting your sound more accurately with the single devices.

Bit late to ask this, but any chance you could post your thoughts on the comparison between this and the OKKO Cocaine? They share the same design idea of a combination effect of compression, EQ, and a range booster. But obviously differ internally. The OKKO is a lot cheaper and has the secondary footswitch, but the Unit67 is more compact.

I can tell you like that EJ Strat ! Interesting that the excitement over noiseless pickups seems to have waned. I guess it's not worth the sacrifice in tone - at least for Eric.

Great demo as always Brett, But just wondering if you could possibly do another video with it driving a real amp? I don't think analog pedals work well with digital gear, especially boosts, just sounds super shrill and gets lost in translation. Basically all we need to know is how it will affect a great tube amp compressing nicely. Both clean and dirty tones. Doesn't even matter what kind..(I know you have some real amps there, the MI maybe?:) ...I might be wrong, but I think the average joe that loves real pedals, loves real amps aswell and is always keen to know how certain products may work into their established rigs and possibly replace other pedals on their board. - Sorry mate, I'm definitely not trying to be a kill-joy! Appreciate all your videos since day one - not a hater -(only of modelers) Cheers Brett!

I designed and built something very similar - but then the NOS Excelitas Vactrol that I used became stupidly expensive and hard to get hold of, so I only have a couple of prototypes. Must get round to re-jigging it for something that's not too hard to get hold of.
