Awesome demo. Love its Jamiroquai & Nile Rodgers vibe. Reveals well the potential for clean guitar to offer a level of rhythm & harmony sophistication that can't be so easily matched by more popular distorted & even modulated guitar sound options.

A genius blend of the old and the new. You get an organic quality but free of the warts and blemishes. I love the extra long sustain. I play my Strat things with a nearly completely clean sound. I hate when there are random 'rests' or to the point dead air between my notes.This pedal solves all that. At $315.00 USD it is not budget pedal but several of the quality comps are much more.

Another ace video from mr Thorn. I am looking at upgrading a cheap line 6 constrictor compressor ive had for years, this is a bigger footprint than i'd usually want in a compressor but the tonal options available has made me interested.

You are here, you are there 🤣I like the bass in this, The pedal you are demoing is cool too. Just bought a 6 pot compressor and it is the best compressor I have had on the board, this would have been a contender with different timing. I used a DBX 166XL rack compressor for a bit, all that extra control helps. Attack and release nice to have on a guitar pedal. Great guitar and production, a bouncy upbeat tune. I have in the pipeline a 2nd hand PT15IR from ebay. I am quite excited, That coupled with a pair of Thornbuckers on their way from the US good times ahead. Looking forward to the Lowry next week.

Hmmm… more GAS.. this may replace my Carl Martin Honey-Comp compressor with the more options available. I’m using always on compression these days as a subtle opening of the sound and gentle feed of the signal. I do find I have to be careful of my string attack because the Honey-Comp can react to a hard signal and the compression noticeably bites. Control of the attack will be very useful. Thanks again Pete for adding to my gear 🤣

Wish I was familiar with the Tone of your 63 Strat, im more familiar with the lake placid blue suhr strat with the Ron Ellis Pickups. But the 63 is very Sultans of Swing sounding in the opening clip!

Hello Mister Thorn. Thank you for your hard work ! I have a request, if I may. Can you make a demo on the Triple Wreck or on the Abasi Pathos (they are basicly the same circuit) ? Please ? I know they are old circuits already, but I think they are good challengers of the Revv G4. What do you think ?

I wonder how this stacks up against the Cali76. I’m tossing up between the two.
@PorchBass Жыл бұрын
I had a cali76 bass and was never truly satisfied with it. The module 4 has the creamy tonal thing where you lose a bit of treble when the compression bites hard. That Tony Levin/gilmour squish floods through this. The cali76 was missing the papery mid distortion and bounce for me.

@@JerryLeeHowell2 lol i mean i like compressors but i dont understand the appeal of all these boutique compressors on the market that all claim to do crazy stuff. i dont know, it sounds like a compressor.
@PeteThorn Жыл бұрын
Well, I know what you mean sort of, but this one, with its unique EQ, when the orange squeezer circuit is activated, and it’s very smooth release characteristics, it’s just a really exceptional compressor. They all don’t sound the same. And especially if you’ve got one with adjustable attack and release plus mix, you can get many different tones. That don’t sound like dynacomp or something.
@oliverjackson3761 Жыл бұрын
@@PeteThorn yeah i guess it's just beyond my pay grade for what I need a compressor on my board to do for my purposes. Thanks for the video and the reply!

I personally don't see the benefit of a compressor. I've never used one and Phil Campbell, of Motorhead, once asked me how I got my sound. But then again, I only come her to hear Pete play.
@PeteThorn Жыл бұрын
If you play clean, it makes your clean feel so much more like you’re playing overdriven, but you’re not. If you want to clean sound, but you wanna be heard in the mix and you want some sustain, do you want to push the guitar forward, and not get lost, compression is where it’s at
@JohnShalamskas Жыл бұрын
Compression can also make your guitar sound a bit brighter, and jump forward in the mix.
