Drying is faster under a fan | Separation Methods | Physics

Drying is a natural process that happens due to evaporation in which the molecules at the surface of a liquid break free and escape in vapour form. Over time, a glass of water left in the open air will empty out due to evaporation. Liquids like alcohol evaporate much faster, while others like oil evaporate slower. Here, we see how we can affect the rate of evaporation of a liquid by using air. When fast moving air is used on one side of a wet slate, it breaks up the water droplets into smaller particles, increasing the contact area, which increases evaporation. Thus the side which was fanned becomes dry quickly while the unfanned side remains wet.

Okay that all makes total sense to me, bow now... How does relative humidity affect this process? I was getting ready to out my last traces of water under vacuum to evaporate it... Wonder if water boiling undervaccu also produces heat🤓🤔🤔🤔

I remember the higher the relative humidity, the harder for the water to evaporate. but dk how to calculate it tho XD I know some calculators that can be used to calculate the wet-bulb and dew point temperature online but I myself don't know anything about the equation and don't think this is what you are needed here. The concept of relative humidity is something like condensation rate/ evaporation rate * 100 (please correct me if I am wrong or was wrong or written it wrong), and there is barely anything more that I know of. hope that I can know more about how relative humidity affects the evaporation process.
