Man you are so technical, I'm empressed the latts are connected to your leg muscles no disconnection. I saw this race and absolutely loved it, thanks for your rowing education, I really enjoyed your expert outlook on this race.

Thank you for this analysis and commentary. The use of body weight is something that I learned after years of sculling: a coach told me to hang my weight off the oars - my weight doesn't get tired. An epiphany! When I combined this with the advice that you gave in one or your videos, to push the boat away from one with your feet, the boat was instantly faster with very little difference in perceived work. Another technical change that helped me to be faster and to prevent lower back injury was to drive my hips up (aim for the sky) after the knees have gone down: this gave me a bigger body swing. I was not trying for more body swing - it happened as a consequence of hip drive. Finally, I liked your commentary about the blade depth because I learned to row and scull with Macon blades, with endless hours of work on blade depth, and I don't understand why that aspect of technique seems to have gone by the wayside.

excellent video aram, great to see an example of the benefits of the drysdale style, I've always seen the problems with the style and never really understood why he was so dominant but I understand now

At about 20 minutes in to your video you can seen their faces close up and it seems like Drysdale is taking one breath per stroke and Borch is taking two?
